Good Morning Oh Kee Pa (Part 1)

^ I soooo wish we had Whole Foods here. I don’t even care about eating organic or helping the environment or any of that shit…but they have some tasty-ass food. When we went down to Broomfield for teh Pheesh, Erin and I went over to the Whole Foods across from our hotel at least once a day. We just loaded up our fridge with all kinds of dips and cheese and salads and premade sammiches at the like. The best part about Whole Foods, imo, is their pre-made stuff. Some of that food looked better than anything I’ve ever had in a restaurant. On second thought…I’m glad we don’t have a Whole Foods here…I like cooking at home and I’d probably never do it if I had that option.

Whoops…5:00…good evening OKP.

32nd anniversary of Towel Dropping Day.

^IV The day was great Kate, the automata exhibit was a little beat because the person who was supposed to demonstrate some of them, took MLK day off. From the outside all of these music boxes and such were amazing, but the real value is in their sound, and we really never got to hear any of them except as pre-recordings.

What turned out to be even more rewarding was a gallery exhibit of the works of Antonio Petrucceli:
http://buttes-chaumont.blogspot.com/2007/09/antonio-petruccelli-1907-1994-centenary.html

Petruccelli was best known for his magazine cover illustrations, but some of his maps and scientific illustrations were pretty wonderful as well. Never knew of the guy before today, but we really appreciated the work his family placed on display at the museum. Saw some of the originals of these: http://www.fulltable.com/vts/p/pet/menu.htm

Yeah, a very nice day overall.

 Does that mean what I think it means?

Congrats! 32 years is awesome!

^^Yeah, that’s how you end up spending way too much at Whole Foods. All the prepared stuff and gourmet little chatchkis are great… but they hit you hard in the ol’ wallet. We’ve got 3 in a 1/2 mile radius… the closest one being a block away… so we see a lot of Whole Foods.

^^^ Yeah, Devin, for a long time we didn’t have a Whole Foods, but they just opened a MONSTER store a few blocks (walking distance) from my house. All the pre-made stuff rocks my face. I would buy the roasted red pepper hummus by the gallon if I could. The beer selection is great. I can get cage-free eggs, homemade brie (which I adore), the blue-flour organic pita chips that I like, AND they have the cream soda that I freakin’ love and can’t get anywhere else!

Yeah, its somewhat on the expensive side, but really, what’s a few more dollars to shell out to get the stuff that I LOVE so I cook and eat at HOME so I won’t spend money eating out?? Plus, NOT eating out is difficult when you live in a city known for its food and restaurants, so it’s good to be able to buy the stuff I like so I won’t do it as often.

ANYWAY . . .

MORNING FOLKS! This morning’s message is brought to you from my bed as I have been puking my guts out since 3:30 this morning

That is all!

Have a better day than I will

EDIT: Just realized this is my 1800 post :open_mouth:

^Yikes, hope you feel better Cari.

Happy Tuesday folks!

Got a head full of coffee but this shit ain’t working!

Took yesterday off to hang with the Val Gal.

Went to the auto show to peep some new rides.

Not sure what I’m gonna get come August…It’s between the new Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ford Explorer or GMC Acadia.

Morning Pa

good morning. got sick yesterday from working way up near the peak where it was windy as fuck. not happy about it. can’t even go skiing today now.

^ Was it just altitude sickness? I’m always afraid that when I finally get to go out West and see all these awesome places that I’m gonna end up getting sick from the altitude. That would suck.

I would go with the Toyota 4Runner.

Mornin’ folks. Gotta go!

nah no altitude sickness…it was just cold and windy and there was already something goin around work anyway.

I would go with a 4runner too if you’ve got the money cause I do think they’re more than the others you’ve mentioned, Toyotas are just crazy reliable…I loved the Wrangler I had, but I don’t think the Cherokees are as well built as far as quality parts and stuff go…I have no idea what an Acadia is, but out of those three I would definitely get an Explorer…my family has a '98 the my mom bought from her company right before my sister turned 15, she learned to drive in it (which she isn’t the greatest driver so it stood the test of her), then I took over after I got tired of driving the manual Jeep about 40 miles round trip to and from school (mostly traffic)…now I have a younger Explorer, same color, less miles because I’m a 5 hour drive from home, and my dad still drives the '98 Explorer about an 45 mins to and from work everyday, its got almost 300,000 miles on it now…my dad says he’s gonna send a picture of the odometer to Ford when it hits 300,000 (knock on wood)

Oh yeah, and Ed, I’ve got yet another good opportunity to check out Asheville with the Gordo tour announced…I’m sure you’ve got some good camping recommendations in case I do end up having more than just one tag along to one of these shows, so let me know what ya got…

^ Yeah, you’re spot on with the Cherokees not being as well built. Honestly Brett, I think for your purposes (if I understand them correctly), you would be well-served with a Toyota Highlander or a 4Runner. If you have somewhat frequent offroad use (i.e. if your cabin has a dirt access road that requires a trail-capable vehicle), then you want a 4Runner. If you want better gas mileage and better handling on the road, with the sacrifice of offroad capability, you want a Highlander. Either way, I think you’re gonna save a shit-ton of money buying Toyota over any of those American cars. But, you’re from Michigan, so I would understand wanting to buy American; my friend from Grosse Pointe says she will NEVER drive anything but an American car because she is so fiercely dedicated to Detroit and its success. To each his own, I suppose.

And actually, camping that is like a paid campground, you would be better off asking Ollie about, Levi. She takes the family to places like that sometimes, if I’m not mistaken. Most of the camping that I would know about is a good 5-10 mile hike with a backpack somewhere off of a remote dirt road, and that would probably not be the best for practicality.

^ Alright, yeah…one of my buddies that will probably be coming along is big into the outdoors stuff like that…we’ve talked about hiking some of the App Trail and stuff this summer, just shooting the shit really, but I know both of these fools coming along would be down for something like that…but obviously that wouldn’t be practical for hitting these shows so I’ll shoot Ollie a PM, as long as she’s not still mad at me for freaking about her facetious comment regarding Phish 3.0

Mornin PA!!!

I just returned from a CHAMPIONSHIP run in Florida! That is right, we won the whole deal, I was awarded an MVP for a game winning walk off hit as well!

Twins camp is too much fun, and the fact that Bert was accepting the HOF call made it even sweeter!

Miss you all!

Loves!

Yo folks!

You’re spot on there Edward! I love me American autos, even though the majority of the parts are made over seas, I gots to support Amuricah!!

Actually, my grandpa was a founding member of the UAW and a good buddy of James Hoffa.

Anyhoo, I will be doing a lot of research in the next few months with this new auto search, gonna buy not lease this time so I wanna get sumtin PIMP!!

Morning to all yous, I’m ready for this day to be at the hour of Five already.

Lates dudes

I will live and die by Consumer Reports, especially when it comes to automobilios.

^what he said.

^^^Congrats Mr. MVP. Glad you had a fun time at Twins camp.

Morning Pa. Busy like crazy at work again, but the sun is out, and life is good. Actually, reading Adam’s response in the ‘warning’ thread made me feel good. I don’t understand or agree with where he’s going, but it’s clear he doesn’t need me to, and that’s the uplifting part. He knows where he wants to be and what he wants to do, and no matter how he got there, and no matter where that is, for now, he’s happy with it. And that’s a pretty good place to be.

So it’s just a few minutes past the middle of Hump Day. Alleluia, the week is more than half over!

Yo.

Morning.

Do it.

Lates.

Copy that on the American cars, Brett. Yeah, Doug is right, Consumer Reports is very important when it comes to reliability issues and all that good stuff. Still, off the top of my head, I would go with the Acadia, provided you don’t need it for trail use. Those cars are soooo nice, and they have a comfortable ride and better handling, much like a car. I have heard great things about them so far.

Monkey balls. I woke up at 8:15 in the goddamn morning today. That’s entirely too early. Every Thursday this semester at 9:00 I have a, get ready for it, a fucking PHYSICS lab!!! Whatever, hopefully this one will be easy. Gotta go, good mornin’ folks!

I had calc physics for two semesters in a row and it met at 7:45 in the morning mon-fri. Nothing like a boring ass physics lecture to start your morning out. That sucked. I wouldn’t mind it as much now as I wake up around 5:30 anyways but as an undergrad? Fuck that. Who ever’s brilliant idea that was is a moron.

^ And the teacher is soooo old. Not that I would hold that against someone, but this guy has got to be in his 80’s. Not that I would hold THAT against anyone either, but this guy can’t give a competent physics lecture anymore. He has a PhD, and I’m sure he’s very very smart, but he’s just to the point where I think he oughta go ahead and retire. He’s gotta be well past the state retirement age; I wonder why he hasn’t left yet? Must really love his job, which really makes me feel even worse for him. Still though, I can see it fucking me up pretty good because how do you go home and do work on a subject that you don’t understand when the teacher hasn’t given a lecture on the topics?

In other news, I was almost the first person to post in the Good Morning thread today, and that is amazing. If I had taken 5 fewer minutes to post, I would have beat Brett. Of course, Neil hasn’t been around, so the bar isn’t set nearly as high anymore…

NEIL!!! WHERE ARE YOU!!!

Man, I wish I could sleep past 7 nowadays… I can’t even if I’ve got nothin’ to do. My body just wakes up.

To all you young folks out there… never have kids or get a real job. That shit will ruin you.
