SNOW DAY!!
On Tuesday, pretty much every area school was closed except the district I work in. They have obviously been hearing about it ever since, because they closed early this morning when most other schools only have delays. Our first one this year!
Works out well for getting Trey tickets too!
Oops. Accidentally posted the same message twice and I don’t know how to delete, so I’ll just edit this one for new reading.
I desperately wish I could have gone back to sleep. I don’t care what time you go to bed, no one should be up before 8am if they have nothing pertinent to do.
I think I may go to the movies today.
Hmmm…thought I had something else, but that’s it for this very moment. I might as well go turn the coffee on.
Edit 2: Seeing the top of the page and the Whole Foods discussion reminded me that I wanted to bring up Wegmans. We don’t have one in Utica, but they are all over western NY and they are pretty wonderful. Not only a great grocery store, but kick-ass prepared/take-out and consistently voted among the top of Fortune’s best places to work.
I wish I had snow days.
Val has had one so far, but I’m sure she’ll get a few more the was this winter is going.
T to the G to the mutha fuckin I to the F!!!
Not too much going on in the office this morning.
Coffee is good!
Have a good freakin’ weekend pa kee oh!
Got up at the usual time this morning (~5:30), let the dog out, looked at the thermometer on the back porch. It was 2 degrees. I went back to bed for an hour.

So isn’t it illegal to have temps in the -20’s with wind chills in the -40’s?
Mornin!
Cold and sick of the winter months…
Looking to adopt two kittens to fill my void in my heart… Hope it is the right move.
Love you all!

No, that’s called awesome, man!
Katie, you lucky so-and-so with your snow day… Well I believe we’re getting a snowstorm on Monday, so that will result in a snow day or two if it actually happens. Here’s hoping. About 25 degrees and windy out there right now, but with the sun out. It would be a totally perfect winter day if there was snow on the ground. Still, it’s a very nice Friday, and I am going to enjoy it to the best of my abilities! Gotta get through Physics class first, but that’s really no big deal.
Coffee no worka yet, I hope it kicks in soon. Gotta go Pa, have a good one!
Mornin, people.
::sends warm weather to Ryan::
::tries to dance to Doug’s post::
Looks like Friday snuck up on me here… where does the time go?
Unless you own a home, a car or have to go outside…
Kitchen sink pipe froze… Feck!!
Frozen pipes suck man. My deepest condolences to you, that’s a bitch to deal with. One way to deal with it is to open the faucet and slowly heat the pipe with a hairdryer or something similar that you can apply heat directly to the pipe with, starting closest to the faucet and working down to the frozen area. Then you can put “heat tape” on it to keep it from happening again. I dunno, you might already know this, and I might be insulting your intelligence, but that’s the method I was taught. I lived in a house in MA that was built in 1788, and let me tell you, frozen pipes were not uncommon. Also, the pipes would often get so cold that you couldn’t have a hot shower.
Trust me, I rent (don’t own) a home, own a car, and have to go outside all the time, and I really do enjoy that stuff. That’s what I keep telling you people, I’m bat-shit crazy by most people’s standards when I comes to the cold. Frozen pipe? Better than a $600 A/C bill any old day.

Well, It’s still morning here! I made it!
Morning, Pa ![]()
T.G.I.F., of course!
I sometimes wish we had snow days around here, but I think I’m gonna soak in the warmth around here while I can. Only mere weeks before I move up to the Great White North! I’m going to be a Nor’Easter! I’ve been checking the weather up in Southern Vermont, and I’m pretty sure I’m GLAD to not be there right now! Especially right over the boarder in New Hampshire . . .Okay, I take that back. I bet the slopes are looking pretty good right now in Keane or Nashua ![]()
ANYWAY . . .
Have a good weekend Pa and stay warm!!!
LOVES ![]()
^ Ain’t no ski slopes in Nashua. You crazy. It is looking pretty cold in Brat, though, getting down to -17 on Sunday night. Colder than it usually is there, for sure. I’m not a skier, but from what I understand, if you want some great skiing, don’t go to New Hampshire, go to Okemo, Killington, Stowe, or Sugarbush. They’re the most popular ski resorts in the eastern U.S., and you won’t even have to leave your state. ![]()

All good words of advice, many thanks. Heating is happening right now and the wrap to happen when it is warmer out! Sucks!
I, unfortunately know those tricks but the wrap is a good one, I forgot to do it this fall!!! Damn it!
I’ll trade you for a few days!
^^ I’m really hoping that the slopes aren’t shut down by the time I get there . . .I really wanna get in some really good spring days on the slopes. Not that the snow will be melted, but they’ll shut them down because it gets too slushy and icy for skiing at the end of March and especially by early April ![]()
^^ Ryan, you’re on man! You gotta tell me where to get one a them Juicy Lucy burgers though! I saw that shit on the Travel Channel or something, and I gotta have one next time I’m in MPLS.
^ March is winter in Vermont, for sure. Even late March. It snows in April every year. Well, maybe they’ll have an off year sometimes, but it almost always snows in April, usually a couple of times. Then mid to late April-early May is the dreaded mud season. It’s not as bad down by Brat, but it still gets pretty muddy. I think you should be able to get quite a few ski days in, depending on just when you’re moving.
^ Bingo. Mud Season. Yuck! That’s what I’m afraid of ruining our beautiful slopes! ![]()
When I got down there to buy Albany Trey tickets at 11:15 or so they were into the balcony and now they appear to be sold out. I had planned on just getting them after work, thinking it shouldn’t be a problem because when I saw him there before the place had a lot of empty seats. The snow day couldn’t have worked out better!
Cari, I didn’t know you were moving up here in a matter of weeks! Where in VT?
Hey …
I come from the land where the oceans freeze…
A few more days like this, and the ocean WILL freeze around here. Really, Devin needs to keep these artic bubbles of air up in Canada where they’re already acclimated to these temperatures. 3F degrees outside the house this morning with a wind chill dropping it well below zero and my fingertips haven’t been warm since I took my shower this morning.
Last week of January already, and I’m really glad this month is coming to a close. It’s been another tough one at work. Fortunately things at home are pretty fine, definitely a safe harbor for both of us. Made plans this weekend to join some of Marie’s friends for a week in Aruba in early July. The deal we got was just too good to pass up even though I’m not overly enthused about the choice of locations.
I can think of a lot of other Carribbean islands that we’ve never been to that can offer what’s available there, but it has more to do with Marie vacationing with her friend than it does anything else. And after all of the Phish and fraternity friends that I made her spend time with, I just don’t have the leverage to complain about it. I just hope the early summer tour starts out west this year.
Have a great day and a great week OKP!
