Good Morning Oh Kee Pa (Part 1)

Mornin…

Loves to you all!

Other than where you get the books downloaded from, is there really a huge difference between Nook/Kindle?

Had a great time at the RV this weekend. Went 6 nights without sleeping in my own bed, then after sleeping in it I had a horrible backache this AM…

Be well all!!!

Loves!!!

U have to take five minutes out of your morning to watch this:

^   Loved it!

(waves cane around) Damn kids just HAVE to look at a computer screen even if they’re reading a book!

Anyway, when did 9/11 become Christmas? Allow me to preface this with the fact that I just don’t get this country’s (and probably other countries’) obsession with rehashing the anniversaries of really bad things happening. It’s the anniversary of Pearl Harbor! Let’s listen to sad stories and look at photos of dead people! It’s the anniversay of Hurricane Katrina. Let’s listen to sad stories and look at more photos of dead people! I just don’t get it.

So, of course, I don’t get them rehashing 9/11 but this year it’s become Christmas. We have two month buildup to Christmas before the holiday comes. Now we have a two week buildup to 9/11! I’ve had to hear stories for weeks now and the damn day isn’t even here yet. I just saw a story the other day of some photographer’s account when he saw people flinging themselves out of the building. Well that’s a wonderful, uplifting story about images that we’d all rather forget. It’s getting to where they’re just running out of idea on how to spin it.

Instead of “never forget” how about time for some “move on,” okay? I don’t need the news to remind me of things to make sure I don’t forget them…I can take care of that myself. Enough.

Well, you filled your quota for making me shake my head in amazement this month, steve-ho.

^^I agree to the extent that people use the memory of these events for purposes of self aggrandizement, but I believe that remembering these events is otherwise important as in the words of George Santayana: “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to fulfill it”

I gotta agree with you here…to an extent. I have noticed a bit too much of the footage on t.v. Keeping it to remembering the SPECIFIC lives of those lost would be good. Keeping their memory alive is essential in their loved one’s healing processes. Especially to the children that lost a parent. I am sure Will would agree with me there. As far as people jumping out of windows–I have seen that and it did rehash horrible memories.

I was just in NYC over the weekend and while it was definitely in the forefront of the city buzz and stuff, I didn’t think it was over-propagandized (is that a word?) or tasteless. But I never turn on the television and if I do it certainly isn’t to the news, so maybe I’m just isolated from it.

Since Monday was a holiday, can today really be Hump Day? Hmmmmm. Will have to let Brett decide.

Early morning greetings from a seedy LaQuinta Inn. Have to choose hotels within the government per diem rate guidelines otherwise we pay out of pocket. And since the increase in business in this area since the fort activities moved into this area, the better hotels are charging forty bucks above the per diem because they can get it, leaving the actual govt rates to the older, cheaper hotels.

But I’m not on vacation, just an overnight business trip, so it doesn’t matter much to me as long as there are no bedbugs to bring home inadvertently.

Today ends a little early after my noon meetings at my local company office, and then I get to listen to the second half of the 10/7/99 show that Iistened to on the way down. Was totally re-impressed with it and am anticipating a fun ride home with the second set.

Have a great second day of the shortened week.

Well, let’s see…what is today???

OKAY NOW!!!

Morning Pa!!!

Gloomy and chilly here in the Mitten!

Short week makes every day feel longer.

By the end of today during a regular week, we’re 60% through the fecker.

However, during a shorter 4 day week, we’re only 50% through the beyotch at the end of today.

BOOM!

Lates

Just the site of that mountain dew makes my morning coffee taste a little sweeter. You never let us down, Brett.

Fingers are crossed for the benefit lottery tickets. Wednesday night, I mean come on! Shouldn’t be too tough, right? Who’s coming with me?

Mornin!!!

Not feeling to hot today.

Oh, and there is a person breaking into houses and staring at their kids while they sleep. He has not been caught, but I have been leaving my windows open as the weather is so crisp and nice at night… The only thing I can say is “try it!” I have the shotgun now loaded and I am such a light sleeper… Get to go hunting soon so I could use some practice…

Anyhow, be well!!

Loves!!!

^^ and ^Now THERE are men of few words.

I, on the other hand, must ramble incessantly, just on the chance that one of these ‘far flung thoughts’ might be gathered together enough to make some possible sense.

Damn, did I have a great ride to work this morning. The remnants of Tropical Storm Lee have been moving in a bizarrely thin line of northward storms generally tending right up the coast. I ran into some serious rain on the drive back from MD yesterday afternoon and it’s been showering on and off in NJ since then.

But this morning, there were some viable breaks in the clouds to the east, and the sun was coming up through a bright blue sky behind them, bordered at the lower level of the horizon by some of the TS Lee clouds moving up the coast. The overall effect, whilst a gigantic Stash from a 93 Sacramento show was playing loudly on the system, was nothing short of spiritually cosmic, from a commuters point of view.

From time to time, my rides to work in the morning with Phish, stand out as some of the most spiritually awakening moments I have these days. The power of the universe focuses in the sunrises I get to experience while the music plays the theme in my head and in my heart.

I’ve often thought about attempts to share these moments with others, but I don’t know if that’s possible. Have to do what I can, through long silly rambles to people who love this music, how meaningful these themes are in the soundtrack of my life.

Have a great Thursday.
