Good Morning Oh Kee Pa (Part 1)

That’s what she said?

Sorry, been at hunting camp all week and that is the type of humor I’ve been exposed to for the last few days…

^

Mornin’ Pa! It’s cold here, too… wtf?? It’s not even gonna hit 60 today. :problem: :problem:

Got a friend staying with us for a couple days and it got all gray and cold the day she got here and it’s supposed to get back up to mid-70’s and sunny the day she leaves! :eh:

Paul Simon live is awesome, from what I hear. I’m not overly crazy about his music, so I actually skipped it the last time he was here… but all my friends were so unbelievably down with the show that I think I’m gonna have to go check it out next time he comes around just to see what I’ve been missing. Have a great time!

And, Bill! Dude! Twitter is not a news service. My morning news sources make no mention of these Ashton and Demi people you speak of… :ugeek:

Have a great day, folks! Make it awesome!

^BTW… Yahoo! News Top Stories… 3rd from the bottom… Captain says Wagner responsible for Natalie Wood Death??? :wtf: :wtf: :silent: :shh: :astonished: :open_mouth:

Now that is some mind-blowing news.

^I’ll say. All these years I thought it was Gilligan who did it.

Yeah, kinda of out of left field and my usual suspicious self is already giving the evil eye to that ship captain who is breaking this thing open. I mean this thing JUST broke late yesterday and he’s already been on two major news shows and is set to be on another tomorrow. A lil excited to “get it off your chest,” eh Captain? Even worse is he’s saying that he “had to give out the truth” then won’t tell anyone what it is. And sure it’s because he was told not to by the cops but then why the heck are you on all those shows, oh Captain? And why do these guys wait these 40 years later to come out with this stuff?..He didn’t have some personal relationship with her…he can’t tell us he was traumatized by it. Just too many fishy questions if you’ll pardon the pun.

Mornin’ 'Pa.

Up early for a little more grocery shopping for Thanksgiving. Buying mostly the veggies and fruit for Thursday’s meal, and a few items that we couldn’t find or forgot from last weekend’s massive shopping.

Marie has to work today until three, so I’ll keep myself out of trouble at the grocery store first, and then out in the back for the last serious leaf cleanup (and I do use my lawnmower for most of the cleanup, Brett, the first one without a bag so the mulched leaves feed the lawn a bit. But today will be a combination of raking, blowing and mowering because a lot of the leaves are in areas that the mower can’t go)

Urologist gave me a clean bill o’ health yesterday, and that’s always good to hear at this age. Makes Marie happy that I’m taking steps to outlive her. Neither one of us wants to be the last one standing, and have to face life without the other. Both of our parents lived into their nineties, so the race is on.

Have a great Saturday, and hope you get a chance to get out into the fresh, albeit chilled, air.

God damnit this is the third Saturday in a row I am awake waaaaaay earlier than I need to be. Yeah I have a bunch of work to do but not by any specific time. wtf? What the hell is wrong with me?

Ug…I’m flying back to Michigan today about about a week in Florida. Still, I’m glad I got to jump into the ocean yesterday. It was cold but not so cold where you can’t get used to it. I just swam out until I was in neck-deep water and just…chilled. It’s awesome just staring out at the horizon and hearing nothing but ocean waves and seeing the birds flying around doing their business. Even caught the sight of a few dolphins bobbing above water off in the distance. Pretty serene stuff for sure. Just made my whole week.

^Sounds lovely.

Good Saturday! I am sitting here freezing my hiney off. My downstairs neighbors control our heat and must not know it. They went away for the weekend and turned the heat way down and it is like a tomb in here. As much as I enjoy not having them home, I would be thrilled if they walked in right now.

In a situation also related to the downstairs people; following aural clues, I have come to determine they either crate or chain their approximately 6 month old puppy up in the house most of the day and night. I suspected it before, but now I am pretty sure, although I can’t necessarily prove it. I cannot tolerate the thought of this happening and I can’t tolerate not doing anything about it, but I’m not sure how to address it. Should I say something to the landlord? I have no relations with them, I have only spoken to them 3 times since I’ve lived here. No animosity, just everyone keeping to themselves. I certainly don’t want to start a battle, considering I partake in certain activities I wouldn’t want outed.

^I keep my 5 month old puppy in a crate when I’m gone during the day. This is the second dog I’ve done this with. I felt bad at first with the first one I did this with, until I realized that he had grown to like the crate. Every trainer I’ve talked to about it encourage it. Even the ones that don’t even use the word “no” to train dogs, but only positive enforcement. The last dog I had would even go into the crate and lay down when he realized I was leaving for work. The times when I left him out of the crate I would come home and he would just be lying in there anyway. The dog I have now goes in there when I say “go to your room” when I leave in the morning or when I’m eating dinner at home. He also goes in there when he’s afraid (ie when I’m vacuuming). It’s his safe place.

Now, that being said…I make sure no matter what I’m doing in the evening I come straight home after work to let him out to run around and play with him for a bit. The only times he goes in there are when I’m gone or eating, and even now I’m starting to leave him out when I eat as he’s learned to not beg. And he certainly does not go back in there at night. I try to make sure he spends no longer than 9 hours at a time in there (the time I’m gone for work). I love my dog and make sure he gets adequate attention and exercise, but I crate him during the day and I don’t see anything wrong with it.

My apologies. I did not explain enough. The dog is confined while they are home. They let him out on a leash out the back door and he does his business and then immediately barks to come back in. They let him in and, I believe, put him right onto another leash or in a crate right inside the door and I’m pretty sure he stays there most of the time. The wife doesn’t work and people are home most of the time. I can hear the dog crying from the same spot below me and them tell him to stop. I have never seen or heard him get anything but negative attention. I can tell when he is not confined because he runs around like crazy and who can blame him.

Good Morning!

I’m in the office in NJ (gasp!) for the first time in a few months. Pretty much alone at least til around lunchtime when the company-head returns with the other engineer from a day trip down to Philly. For now I’m procrastinating working on my expense report for the recent trips down to NC, since we wrapped up there on Friday with good results.

Regarding the dogs in cages, I’m not really pro-cage as cages = imprisonment, but if the dog loves to be caged who am I to argue with that. Whining dog is probably NOT loving the cage though, and poor Katiemay I do not envy your situation. Unfortunately I do not think the family downstairs will change their ways after you speak with them (they probably think their dog loves it too, or they just don’t care the dog is suffering). I also think if you voice your objections they will most likely just harbor bad feelings towards you (similar to the way some people get if you criticize / complain about the way they bring up their kids).

I’ve had this convo with Doug already so he knows I’m not saying he thinks his dog love to be caged when the pup is actually miserable … I think it depends on the owner-dog relationship and unfortunately Katiemay’s neighbors are just shitty dog-owners, imo. Some people really should not be allowed to have pets.

^Morning PeiYi, nice to know you’re back in NJ. NJ is definitely a better place when you are.

Dragging our butts this morning. Marie and I returned from the city about 1130 last night after spending almost 12 hours walking kids and gkids all around midtown. Carly’s birthday is Wednesday and she received Mary Poppins on Broadway from us, and a new American Girl doll from her mom, so yesterday was her birthday trip into the Manhattan to celebrate it.

After she spent some time picking out “Rebecca” at the American Girl Place on 5th and 49th, we enjoyed the city “pre-Season” by walking past the tree and ice rink at Rockefeller Cntr, past the street performers and odor of chestnuts that filled every corner, to an eatery on the corner of Broadway and 51st street called Ellen’s Stardust Diner, where the waiters and waitress are aspiring Broadway chorus hopefuls.

There is nearly non-stop entertainment by each of the wait staff in turn, as they belt out a variety of songs, as if you’re experiencing a whole season of American Idol in the time it takes to order, eat and pay for your burger and fried or Reuben and slaw. It’s a little cramped, a little noisy at times, and a bit pricey, but worth every penny when you’re celebrating a birthday for sure.

From there they enjoyed Mary Poppins and then a stop at Crumbs cupcake bakery on 42nd street for a sweet momento for the ride home. All of the girls had a fun day in the city where the weather was perfect for the whole time. Great time, great memories generated.

Now all I need to do is refrain from snoring out loud at work today.

^^^ Just felt I had to explain myself. That does sound like a shitty situation though. I mean, why have a dog then? As my last note, I also don’t put him in there when he is misbehaving so he doesn’t associate the cage with a punishment.

Anyway good morning OKP. Everyone is excited about their short work weeks, but it’s going to be a grueling one for me. I’ll take Thursday off to eat excessive amounts of food and nap a few times, but after that it’s 12+hrs a day on this proposal until December 8. But it’ll all be worth it come December 29th and I’m standing in the Garden free of worries!

My doggie dog dog log dog log doesn’t get crated, but my dad’s does.

I am of the belief that a swift smack gets through very quickly when he does something wrong, then he doesn’t do it again. :astonished:

Morning Pa!

Short week is right!

Today is kinda dragging, I’ve gotta pick up the slack of the beyotch who took the entire week off, but other than that, peachy keen here.

Be Well. Smack your dawgs. Eat lotsa food. Watch foosball. Start watching Elf this weekend.

PeacE

Dogs aren’t all that smart and they’re generally happy. if all he knows is imprisonment, he’ll probably enjoy or appear to enjoy it…‘keep yer pets spade or neutered’ is a pretty good doctrine imo

Good morning oh ye dudes, oh ye dudes.

Threw discs a lot this weekend, but it’s never enough.

I always get to the point that I’ve had enough coffee, beer, sleep, pizza, music even. But disc golf, man, there’s a reason why the game of golf finds old guys playing every single day. It’s just a great way to be.

Welp I’m at work with very little work to do. That’s good and bad of course. Speakin’ o’ courses…

Alright I’m gonna have to ignore how beautiful it is outside I guess.

Listening to SOTG @ work, it’s mid-Guyute right now. My favorite part of the album.

Mornin!

Loves to you all!!!

The more I own kitties, the more I think they are more similar to dogs than people give them credit for…

Anywho… Hey the Twins made a few signings… How long to Spring Training? Hmm…

Be well!!

anywhere from 2"-11" of new snow here!!!
