Good Morning Oh Kee Pa (Part 1)

Morning Pa!

It’s been a fruitful and busy week at work. Luckily, I was alerted by the morning news (which I only watch for weather forecasts, tbh) that the Raleigh Bluegrass Fest is in full swing this week. Even though I will miss the weekend headliner Bela Fleck (!), I managed to catch one of the ‘Bluegrass Rambles’ last night at a Church, of all places.

It was awesome! I stayed for 3 bands, one of whom was the reason I went: Bill Evans.

However, this Bill Evans is a different Bill Evans than the one I thought / heard play before. LOL. It was still very good nonetheless.

Acoustics was great and the ‘pickin’ was very tasty. There was a lady selling pie downstairs too, so I had some pumpkin pie in between sets.

I also looked up the difference between a ‘fiddle’ and a ‘violin’ after this one lady kept calling what looks like a violin a ‘fiddle’ and the upright bass a ‘bass fiddle.’ The difference is in the execution, apparently.

Dude, Steveo, my Michigan brah, aren’t you like 35? Why are you smoking stems?

Anyhooooo…

GO TIGERS!!! Punched our ticket to the playoffs and the AL Central AGAIN.

Got an appointment with a personal trainer tonight, I’ve got myself in pretty good shape the last couple years, no it’s time to get jacked. Or something.

LOVE THIS WEATHER!!!

Happy Thursday.

Haven’t smoked stems on purpose since college. Back when one smoked resin when one was ‘out’ and desperate.
Obviously if one can afford a personal trainer one does not need to smoke stems.

Dude, Steveo, my Michigan brah, aren’t you like 35? Why are you smoking stems?

Because I don’t waste one bit of that stuff…I’m a thrifty feller. I suppose I’m of the mindset that just because I can afford to waste something doesn’t mean I should.

To be fair, I’ve only had a few occasions back in college where I smoked nothing but stems, mostly due to being low on supply. I tried it on a whim and it does get the job done. These days, I still don’t waste them but I’ll pack a bowl with the normal stuff then throw maybe one or two small stems in there if I have them and they’ll burn with all the rest of it. Waste not, want not.

This is why I’m curious if the leaves can be smoked…I’ve never gotten leaves before so I’ve never tried it. I may pack a bowl of just leaves on a whim just to see how effective they are.

GO TIGERS!!! Punched our ticket to the playoffs and the AL Central AGAIN.

Yeah, baby! To be honest, I’m not that high on their chances this year but it’s all about just getting in…it’s kind of a crapshoot once you’re in.

Back when one smoked resin when one was ‘out’ and desperate.

I was scraping more recently than I’d care to admit. You do what you gotta do. It sticks to everything and tastes like ass but that crap does the damn job.

Morno!

Indeed! It’s 63 and sunny in Asheville right now with a slight breeze every so often. Couldn’t ask for better!

My little mama is 11 months old today. She started walking around some this week. She’s been “cruising” (walking around while holding on to furniture, walls, toys, people, etc) for at least a couple of months but she’s finally starting to let go and take 3-5 steps on her own. She won’t do it all the time and, in fact, when I try to get her to do it, she sits down and refuses. She’s a spunky little one, that Piper!

Only one more day of work to go~
Have a good one!
Peas

F***ing love this weather. The oppression of summer has ended. Bring on that insect-free crisp fall breeze.

Morning dudes. Listened me to some 2013 Phish yesterday, and really dug it. I think it was the third Spac show, the one that ends YEM, E: Loving Cup. Really liked how they played this year, from what I heard.

I did a bunch of errands yesterday that resulted in a lot of awesome. My friend gave me a pretty nice stereo, which I think is going to the younger two kids’ bedroom … and a wireless speaker that will revolutionize my listening … gonna send the computer audio to the kitchen. I literally can’t wait to get home and finish rigging that up. Also scored some great supplies @ Guitar Center & spent hardly anything; gift cards were burning a hole in my wallet. Bought a pair of stereo speakers at Savers for $10 that are fantastic. Ate a burrito. Grabbed some beers.

vhlinks.com, the van halen forum I visit sometimes, is in financial crisis. The owner wants to close the site. Just makes me appreciate the OKP, afaik no such imminent threat exists here!
:think: ::huffs burning stems::

Morning Pa!

Yesterday started off well and positive, but ended on a low note regarding work. Just the usual frustration with clients who ‘want what they want when they want it’ and don’t want to hear about how that is unrealistic or the amount of time things will take.

Oh well, One’s gotta do what one’s gotta do, esp when live Phish is jus 'round the corner.

TGIF! Due to ‘low note’ above, decided to head home on an earlier flight today and let things mellow out. Probably gonna spend the late afternoon chilling out in front of the Breaking Bad Countdown-to-the-Finale Marathon and just veg.

Yep.

Good move^

I’m workin’. It’s Friday.

My kids got a new stereo that’s just wicked good. I mean, it’s not the greatest system, as far as the components … but the speakers are the best that have ever graced my home, in my life, and I’m jealous. Truthfully woulda claimed them for myself but I ain’t got room in my den or bedroom for giant awesome speakers. At least the record player it came with is broken.
:smiling_imp:

Anyway the lady that gave us the stereo also gave me this amazing wireless speaker system (I can reaaaaally use such a device), and recently my aunt gave me a record player that runs sweet (for which I bought a pair of sweet used speakers for $10) … so yeah, there’s a whole new world goin on in my house, with teh audio.

Oh God I hope I play an awesome round of disc golf wicked soon

Hope you all have a nice weekend now ya’heah

Morning Pa! I got caught up watching Jimmy Fallon Late Night videos, so I am here later than I’d like with less time to spend than I’d like. It’s another pristine day outside and I am going to get out there and enjoy it by cleaning my car. Being that 2 days a week I see kids in their homes all day long, my car was already full of games and toys, but then when I had to clean all my things out of the preschool site I was laid off from it got 100x worse. Like not a spot to put anything else, worse.

Good to catch up with everyone. I bought myself a wireless speaker for my birthday and it is probably one of the best purchases I have ever made. Last night, I bought a memory foam pillow and it treated me right.

Hellloooo! A fine day to you!

Family dinner for my nephew’s birthday tonight. Have to clean and pay bills today. Lame.

What an amazing week this was, weatherwise. The leaves started changing and the sky has been perfectly clear and sunny every day with temps in the high 60s low 70s. The best part is, this week looks like it’s going to be exactly the same! Autumn!

Good morning. Stressed, but what else is new. Watched the series finale of Breaking Bad last night and thought it was awesome. I’ll refrain from spoilers, but I’m usually let down with series finales for some reason. Not this one. It was perfect.

I have no idea about Breaking Bad. When it comes up in conversation I usually think silently, “That’s that really popular thread at the OKP that I don’t read”.

Lots of disc golf this weekend, but not too much else. Oh, we went to a pow wow. That was Diana’s idea. It was crazy beautiful outside all weekend, so as long as I was outside life was grand.

Working now though, can’t believe I didn’t win the Powerball. I suck at that game.

have no idea about Breaking Bad.

I just started watching it myself a few weeks ago. Only through season 2 and I’m digging it. Good stuff. Of course, I’m going to be on high-alert for all media this week to avoid Breaking Bad spoilers. I listen to a number of radio shows and every time they bring up the show, I scramble to change it or turn it down. I’m going to avoid googling the show or even using Yahoo at all for fear of some spoilerific headline or search result coming up. I’m not on Twitter or anything but I’m sure I’d have avoid that too and it’s pretty easy for me to ignore Facebook for long periods. I know how tough it was to avoid Game of Throne spoilers at the end of last season so I hope I can pull it off.

Anyway, I’m not sure if I pulled or tore a pec muscle but it’s been hurting there for a few days…may have been related to my month-long cough that is still barely lingering. Kinda sucks…if hurts when you move in certain ways and really hurts when you cough or sneeze. Just a bad muscle to injure. I’m hoping it’ll just go away and I can avoid a doctor. No smoking either until it does also. The one time I feel like smoking and I can’t…ah, irony.

Mornin!

Loves to you all!

2200 air miles, 1250 road miles and a long week, whew, is it Phish time?

Be well!

Morning 'Pa.

Interviewed at a recruitment open house on Friday and it would be really nice to be hired by this company. Small firm with about 130 employees down the street from where I started in the business 28 years ago with another small company. Plus I know a couple of people working there already, and went out to lunch with them afterwards. Good feelings all around.

Weather has been unbelievably nice the past month at least. Beautiful sunny days, cool clear nights. Been doing a lot of pre-planning for this upcoming Disney trip. Can’t believe how much there is to think about in order to “get the most out of your stay”. I just hope no hurricanes decide to blow through during our trip.

Have a great Tuesday, OhKeeFolks.

Good morning. Tuesday. Was just about to crab about a long day of work ahead, but I’m grateful for the work ahead to have. I might not be crazy about my employers, but at least they don’t shut the company down because they can’t get along and then continue to get paid while their employees don’t. Coup anyone?

Good luck with the new job Bill! Everyone else, enjoy your beautiful fall day.

At home sick today. Weak.

Woke up this morning…government still seems to be functioning. How about you guys?

Shutdowns are overrated. All it seems to really affect are tourists who can’t get into parks and museums and stuff.

Seriously, I was watching some of the CSPAN stuff. I get home and they’re having a few votes on stuff. And that’s fine.

And then they proceed to have hours and hours of speeches. Blowhard after blowhard walking to the podium and either ripping on the new health care or defending it. But what is the point? Is there a SINGLE guy in that room who is going to hear one of these speeches and say “Why geez! I’ve been all wrong on this! Your five-minute clichéd speech has completely changed my mind! I’m for the other side now!” Most people in that room aren’t even listening.

So I’m supposed to believe it’s this big emergency but they still had to take time for each Congressman to stroke his ego and get his useless opinion on record so he can brag about being for or against it when he runs for re-election. Even in what is supposed to be some big moment, they STILL have to set aside time for it to be about themselves. Of course, this is no surprise to anyone. I don’t understand how anyone can follow this and seriously think politics are worth their time.
