I’m seriously going to try and go most of this week without drinking anything. At least Monday and Tuesday.

13 years of marriage today, friends. Sun is shining (in a very hot manner) … developments on my new CD-in-progress have resulted in a refreshed state of mind … I found out what happened to my friend, and he is NOT dead … the dog has been paid and the bills have been fed. Or thereabouts.

Work party last night was a rager. Needing lots of coffee this morning. I think I won something last night, but I definately didn’t go home with whatever it was. I hope it wasn’t anything good.

Its amazing how much less sleep I need when I didn’t drink the night before…48 hours without a sip! I know that sounds pathetic but it means something to me. I’m definitely going at least one more night sober-style, but I have a birthday party for a friend Wednesday so… If I can just get in this kind of habit…chilling early in the week for at least 3 nights, I know I’ll feel a hell of a lot more healthy. Anyway sorry I’ll stop rambling about my drinking problems.

I just got off of back-to-back concert nights of DMB and Rush. I’m pretty wore out but quite pleased. Both were fantastic. Plus we finally got our power back in our house at some point last night. Concerts + energy = good

Beautiful weather in NJ and although I’ve been working my ass off since getting back from vacation, things are pretty cool at the moment. Gonna take the afternoon off tomorrow to haul some more top soil and mulch around the yard, and that should be the end of my outside work for the season. The rest is purely maintenance.
Am pretty much ignoring most of the summer shed concerts scheduled locally at the PNC ArtsCenter, and instead concentrating on the local music scene at some of the local clubs.
Some of these clubs are trying some new ideas to get the locals to boost the mid-week business. Even though they’re generally packed on the weekends with the bennies, their mid-week business is generally slow. So many of them are scheduling bands mid-week from 6 to 10 pm instead of later. Gives the local working folks an opportunity to socialize, drink, and listen to music (mostly outside on their patios) and still go to work the next day without violating some of the local noise ordinances. Definitely an idea that seems to be working.

And I’m leaving work at noon to go home, wait for the plumber who’s gotta unclog some drains, and then be outside with the music blaring while work around the yard. Already know what show I’ll be listening to, since I haven’t visited that 94 Red Rocks show in a while.

Good morning, Friday afternoon!
I’m gigging tonight … and I’m finally waking up after a groggy morning.
Last night & the previous night I stayed up until the small hours, rewriting lyrics and re-recording vocals. It’s an exercise that I’ve done more and more of in recent years. I can’t tell if my sense of discernment is improving, or if my ability to be spontaneously good is diminishing. Either way I’ve come to welcome the process, as it’s really been improving my tunes.
