Good Morning Oh Kee Pa (Part 1)

Uh…what else…uh…so have you seen the news lately? What a shitshow. Humans…filthy creatures.

If you’re looking for evidence of the human condition, the news is not the place to go. Nothing but negativity on there. I often wonder why I’m so much more positive on this stuff than others and I think it’s just because I don’t watch that drivel. It’s worse than it’s ever been.

Only M-F 9-2 job I know of is a secretary. Better work on those phone skills.

So glad football is back. Game last night was a dud but still strangely enjoyable to make fun of.

Good morning, fellow Phish phans and Oh Kee Pa visitors.

^^ Will, someday we will meet for real. Whether it’s at a Phish show or at Grandpa’s Cheese Barn, it will be great.

^ Stevo, you are right. The news is not the place to get a thorough report of what goes on. I was trying to be funny, but there is plenty of good everywhere. Perhaps exactly as much bad as good? Balance? Yin and Yang? Wang dang doodle?

So what if we spread news of the Oh Kee Pa on some Phish Facebook groups? Is this still a legitimate site? What if people were posting here again? Is it just more work for whoever does the moderating? There are bound to be lots of lamos posting lots of bullshit. Is the .net forum basically the same thing? I think there is so much here that some people would have a great time reading through it all and posting new stuff.

Here I go to do more stuff. No paying job yet.

Good morning! Happy Friday! Have a good weekend!

Good morning Oh Kee Pa! ^Love the WoL knock knock joke. Can’t wait to use it on people.

I am on the .net forum and someone posted something about this place last week. The thread was about birthday shows and they said a show they had seen was special because they played Oh Kee Pa and that was a message board they’d been on since '06 and had made many friends on. The username wasn’t one that I knew from here, but I was happy to see OKP represented. The .net forum is great. I’d say it’s mostly moderate, cool people, like this place, with some assholes sprinkled in. I like that this forum, even in it’s heyday, was always on the smaller side and easy to keep up on. It would be great if it had a resurgence.

Here’s a news story I read this morning that made me feel good about the world for a minute.

I remember finding OKP via a simple Yahoo search engine. It doesn’t come up in any search engines now. Really funny how all the search engines out there are completely controlled content with a lot just never making it throught. Does this mean that OKP is now part of the “dark web???”

Here’s a news story I read this morning that made me feel good about the world for a minute.

I saw this one featured on the Evening News. Amazing story with the dog just finding its way back.

Also, I got my new Vida Blue album in the mail and bumped it a bit this morning. Really liking it and it’s not something I had to “warm up to” like other jamband releases. Just good grooves, nice jams and I’m impressed by the drums. Glad they’re back.

A Vida Blue review sandwich, delicious!

Weird. I must have forgot I posted it in the first paragraph. Getting old.

Good morning to anyone still left out there.

I am struggling to maintain being a responsible human adult. The workload of my job is impossible for me to keep up on and, combined with a very trying year personally, I have gotten less and less productive and more and more behind. I’m in way over my head and don’t know how to begin digging out. Or if it’s even worth it, or possible. There are so many pressing things to do, how the fuck do I get it all done? It seems like everything is a priority. The overwhelmingly crushing feeling only makes me want to do less when I’m not at work, which only makes things worse by putting me further behind. It’s a vicious cycle that keeps drilling a deeper hole as it spins.

Just doing my part to spread the light. Hope you all are well and letting life lift you up instead of bringing you down.

Good morning to anyone still left out there.

Kinda feels like we’re dying out here, don’t it? Even the stubborn regulars aren’t showing up as much.

I am struggling to maintain being a responsible human adult

I struggle with this every day. Seems that all the joy in life comes from blowing off such responsibility. As it stands, I keep my responsibilities small.

All I can say is, when overwhelmed at work, sometimes it helps to just hash it out with your boss. It may not actually help but it helps to let someone else know how you feel and, if your boss is competent at all, he may find ways to ease the burden…and at the very least he’ll realize how much you’re struggling. Just some honesty may go a long way. I was buried in tasks for a while at my job but thankfully my boss knew this and eventually got us some extra help.

Don’t know if this helps but it’s not uncommon to feel this way.

Happy Thanksgiving, Oh Kee Pa.

Oh ye dudes

Maybe I’ll see you in Providence!

I hope this place is still here, even if it gets only one post every few months … someday it’ll come back … just like Frosty…

^^ Happy Thanksgiving. I went to Illinois for the occasion. It was great.

^ How was Providence?

Good morning. Phish is currently on tour. I’m way behind. On Night 1 Set 1 Plasma.

All posting should go in this thread in these lean times. Let’s keep the rest of this subterranean arctic neuro technology ORIENTATION station powered down to conserve energy until the return…of…the…

I hear you Katie May!!! I feel the same way about work too. Just keep going and try to enjoy the parts you like about your job! Savor the good moments and trudge through everything else. you got this. hang in there!

Also, who was the poster on the .net! ?

Also blast from the Past. Thom Neck accidentally texted me the other day and it was a blessing in disguise. I know many of us love that guy! He texted a picture of him and his cousin thinking he was texting his cousin but it was me. Very random but cool! Hope all is well! Miss you guys!

^ Hi, Funky.

Good morning

Happy Friday

Happy Phish three night run in Charleston

Local news about Phish…but mostly opinions and stereotypes and info (and a pic) about a cover band:

Providence was great … so glad I didn’t just pass on it, and I could have easily saved the money and the challenge of just getting tickets at all … the second show really floored me, I left feeling like it was as good a show as I’ve ever seen them do. Maybe it was down to the great song selection, but the shenanigans with the PHX sound effect was hysterical on the 11/30 show … and playing was tight, jams were compelling, the singing was very good. Very affirming show for this fan.

I had decided to listen to zero Phish in the months leading to the show. Now that the ban is lifted, I’ve spun 11/1/09 (still have set three left to go), half of SPAC 6/20/04, and I’m halfway thru Baker’s Dozen vinyl.

I just re-read my post from like a year ago on the Baker’s Doz vinyl, and I guess my views on that release have improved. Gotta appreciate it from the jam-heavy perspective, and for it just being a solid bunch of new Phish performances. I didn’t like the song choices I guess but I’m over it … It’s a curious album for sure, without being earth shattering or anything.

Maybe they’ll hit the studio this winter?

Pittsburgh was a lot of fun.

Trey was not done at the end of yem, much fun.

Been just out of it and missed most of the Fall run. Feels like I blink and it’s over. Guess I’ll have to catch up.

^ Have you been listening? I was able to finish listening to the tour and have been relistening. Providence Jibboo blew my mind yesterday.

Good Morning. One week until Christmas. 10 days until Phish

Cold here this morning in Texas. 28. Frost

School is winding down with Polar Express (which is actually creepy as fuck) watching/pajama days and class parties and half day Friday.

I chaperoned Wyatt’s choir field trip yesterday. Singing/visiting at three different nursing homes and then lunch at Cici’s Pizza. Chaperoning field trips:

I’ve been watching this:
Pipe Masters
https://www.worldsurfleague.com/
May be back on today. Probably tomorrow.
I also saw the Jaws big wave competition last week. Good stuff.

This is cool:

The Mandalorian

Baby Yoda

Star Wars 9

legal weed in Illinois…where I no longer live

We’ve had it for a year in Michigan and, while I guess it’s nice to not get busted, it’s still not for sale anywhere. Almost every major city has opted out of allowing sales so I basically still need a medical card to buy it from the dispensaries anyway…thankfully I’m good there until 2021.

Plus, the last time I went in there were basically three brands of vape stuff for sale due to all the crazy vaping regulations…those were the only three that had been thoroughly tested enough to get a waiver. Not that it’s a big deal but it feels like it’s still the Wild West in terms of weed commerce.

I’m at work for what will likely be a very slow Christmas Eve workday but have the rest of the week off. Then it’s Christmas, then Star Wars the day after, then Billy Strings for some pre-New Year’s fun on the weekend. Good times.

All you guys have a lovely holiday!

Good afternoon OKP. Long time, no see. Can’t believe my last post here was at Thanksgiving. Twas a very very busy December.

Marianne! Great to see you! Congrats on the marriage! I don’t think I remember knowing that from when you were last here. Also, happy birthday! I recall yours is right around here. Tomorrow, the 30th, perhaps? Enjoy the shows! I don’t remember now what the person’s handle was on .net.

Good to see there have been some posts this month. And glad to see Kevin enjoyed Providence and is into Phish. I always like to see Kevin enjoy teh Phish for some reason.
