I may just take an afternoon nap today. A rarity for me, but I woke up earlier than I would have liked, on the one morning I can sleep in. Also heard that people sleep in the daytime if they want to, so I’m checkin it out. But first, cereal. And more coffee.

This morning has me thinking about the band Goose again. Not here to hate, but I haven’t been able to “get” why people regard them so highly. I personally don’t find them more unique than any other band in the jam circuit, just a different flavor. If anyone has an intro show or song they can suggest, I’d be all ears.
NB: Perhaps I’m also just less interested in “jam bands” these days and more interested in listening to some real killer improv that’s more on the jazz, funk, or soul side. Maybe, as a guitarist I’m just tired of listening to guitarists.

Second, I dunno if anyone saw any of the long fb post Little did about cults, but this Phish shit’s got me good. I’ve been listening to almost nothing but Phish shows for weeks now, except when I throw something else in to deliberately avoid burning out on Phish, just so I can keep going. That’s some twisted cult bullshit right there, whoops.
Third, I have considered making myself a Phish.net account, who has one? The OKP rules and all, but y’all … I can’t pretend I haven’t noticed the pace of conversation.
Second, though. Phish cult. There’s something up psychologically, with fandom. I just don’t even care about plenty of bands, and I’m sure they’re great, maybe even the greatest? Not sure I’m interested.

I’m about to resume Lord of the Rings w/ the fam’. We watched the first three of six extended edition DVDs last night. Nobody fell asleep, feeling like this is the way to go. Originally planned to slam it all into one day but we became reasonable.

Hey Steve! I haven’t seen a rise in any spam emails since switching over, and I’d be surprised if it was due to our move to Discourse. Anyone else having that issue?

I have noticed an influx of new spam emails, but seems like only in more recent weeks, as opposed to the months since we switched over. My email gets dragged all over the place, so OKP is likely not the culprit.
It’s been a long, trying year. I think we are finally reaching the downward slope out, worse for the wear.
I am a .net member. Hope that’s ok to admit here. OKP will always be my first Phish forum love. In fact, my love for this place is what drove me to seek a new replacement when we dwindled.

I had a remarkable experience this past weekend - my FIRST large live music event! Billy Strings hit the newly-developed ColaConcerts stage in Columbia, SC. The company is also behind the pod-style distanced shows that popped up in the northeast last fall.
Let me tell you: run to go see these guys live if you haven’t. This is truly music you’ll enjoy as it takes its foundation in traditional bluegrass and runs with improvisation at its core. One of my biggest complaints about up-and-coming jam-aligned acts is that many of them are regurgitating rather than reinventing or redefining. Seeing Billy Strings live renewed my faith in musical progress; they’re acknowledging their roots while also making something unique, and they are exceptional musicians in a TIGHT band.
Now, I was really not prepared for a live music experience. I just cannot express how joyful it was to see other people dancing, having fun, and being kind to one another. Of course it helps that everyone was spread out, and honestly I’m fine with this format for the foreseeable future: no one spilling beer on you, no one blocking your view, no one up in your space. That means a lot after a year of owning your personal space.
Stay healthy, stay smart, and see live music when you’re ready. It, of course, will change your life (again)!
