Guitars!

what kind(s) do you have? do you like it/them?

i have an Epiphone SG model that i like okay. it’s a hand-me-down from my big-bro so i’m fixing to get one of my own. it’s a solid guitar for a $250 price tag. i don’t really know where to start as far as getting a new one goes.

i’d kill for a Languedoc but that’s something i should shove into the back of my mind until i win the lottery. i think i’d like a hollow body electric (at least something similar to what trey’s wailing with)…any suggestions? my price range will probably top off at around $1k. most likely a little less.

I’ve got a Fender Deluxe Powerhouse Strat, and I love it.

I actually rarely use the 12db active midboost that it has, as I mainly use the clean electric. It’s just got such a nice low bass tone to it that I absolutely love. I haven’t really played any other Fender’s, so I don’t know if it’s unique to my guitar or to all Fender’s…

I used to have an Epiphone Les Paul and I just didn’t like it at all. Didn’t really care for the sound all that much, and the feel of it bothered me as well. The Fender strat’s are just so damn comfortable when you’re playing them, I don’t think I could play anything else.

The best way to go about buying a new guitar is trying other guitar’s. Just go to the shop, let them know you’re interested and aren’t there just to play the different guitar’s, and they’ll help you out and let you play them all you want.

As for finding a nice hollowbody, I’ve always wanted to try a Gibson Blueshawk, even though I previously didn’t like the feeling of the Les Paul’s. The Blueshawk has a slightly smaller body than the Less Paul and it’s a semi-hollow. As for finding one though, I think they were discontinued, so you’d have to search eBay, which I’m sure there will be a few on there.

I also know Shechter and Ibanez make nice semi-hollows and hollowbodies that you could look into.

my main is a Schecter Electric/Acoustic Hollowbody

its a beautiful guitar… it has 2 stock duncan designed pickups which im saving up to switch out for a pair of seymour duncan 59s… as well as a piezo bridge to get an incredulous acoustic tone…

then i got a sqiuer telecaster that i put black hardware on and looks sharp (pickups need a pickup though), and a Ibanez Artcore Semi-Hollow which IMO doesn’t cut it for me anymore after i got my Schecter…

oh and 2 basses, both belong to friends but they keep em here to jam…

but yea man, go to a local GC or Sam Ash and check out the hollowbody sections they have… you can easily play 30 some odd guitars and fall in love with one

i call pics for this thread

My main guitar these days is a Les Paul with 15 gauge strings. I also have a PRS McCarty and Fender Strat. As for my acoustic, I have a Taylor 810. My effects are Homebrew compressor/sustainer and overdrive, Dunlop Crybaby and Q-Tron envelope filter.

I have two acoustic - A Takamine acstc/electrc cutaway G-Series, and an Ibanez Artwood Dready. I love them both. I usually keep my Tak tuned standard , while I use my “I” in open G and sometimes C.

I always thought Ibanez just stuck to making cheesy looking guitars you always see Joe Satriani or Steve Vai play. But as soon as I saw that guitar then picked it up, I thought it was an absolute steal for 275$.

I very rarely play electric, but I have an Epiphone Les Paul(Pretty much the same model shown above, but not an authentic Gibson). Its a nice sounding, and good looking guitar for a reasonable price. I’m not much of a gearhead , as I mostly play acoustic gigs with a longtime friend of mine.

Although I would never want to set limits or absolute conditions on playing music, my skills are much more suited towards playing acoustic. I’ve just always felt more comfortable, confident, and had more fun that way.

All the guitar I’ll ever need.

Seriously though, I expect it will be the last guiatr I ever buy (burglaries and fires notwithstanding). I’m planning on making a guitar soon and hope that will be where I go in the future.

You don’t know how amazingly jealous I am of all of you that you can actually make music from a guitar, or from any instrument for that matter.

With love,
the audience.

My father is a luthier. I play whatever he makes, which is usually whatever I want. BOOYAH!

what is that?

^The body and neck look alot like a PRS. Could be wrong. But thats whet it looks like.

i didn’t know PRS had a hollow-body model. it’s a beauty, whatever it is.

^ ;D

Nice grabs.

I have a Martin Acoustic.

I love it. The sound that comes out of it is great and shit, if they are good enough for Johnny Cash (and Trey!) they are good enough for me.

Martin Guitars are the shit! Easily the best sounding acoustic instruments available.

I do love my Guitar Hero controller though

I have a Brian Moore iGuitar2.13, and I won’t be changing any time soon. Its sick because besides being a solidly built instrument with good tone, it has a piezo in the bridge to make it sound like an acoustic, and a 13 pin RMC midi imput for synths effects if you so desire.

I also have an acoustic koa Washburn, which for 350, isn’t half bad at all.

b, that is one of the greatest quotes of all-time, that’s going in my favorites!

The guitar that’s currently in my avatar is my main guitar - it’s an Ibanez Artwood series middle-of-the-line type acoustic/electric. I love how it plays, and the EQ gives me plenty of low end for when I wanna be crunchy or add extra bump to the beat.

I also have this other acoustic - a dark brown throw-around for the house that’s much more fun now that I put a lighter gauge set of strings on it …

Then I’ve got a pair of electrics, one is crap and the other is great (a Godin … LP90 I think?).

I’ll have to get some pics sometime and shove 'em in here. That Godin’s pretty.

I have some guitar’s and they all suck. But it’s not about the guitar, it’s what you can do with it, and I’m great a looking good with a guitar. I’ve got a Squire Telecaster and a cheap Fender knockoff. I’ve also got a real Fender Strat that doesn’t work. Hmm…a Yamaha acoustic, which is probably the nicest sounding guitar in my house and what I fuck around on mostly. I’ve been trying to get into playing a bit more bluegrass and rootsier stuff, so my electrics have just been collecting dust for a while. One day I’ll dish out for a nice semi-hollowbody, but guitar’s are so expensive.

if my comp wasn’t f’d, i’d post pics, but oh well. i have a few from over the years. i could sell at least one of them, but i attach too much sentimental value to some objects and i simply can’t sell a guitar.

my first electric (purchased when i was 18 i believe): Washburn semi-hollow HB-335 copycat. kind of cheesy with the gold hardware, but it really does have great, warm tone and lots of sustain. it suffers from many other problems, because it’s a cheap-ish knockoff guitar, but still i love it.

second purchase: Fender Tele thinline semi-hollow. this is my favorite. american made, natural finish with tortoise binding and pickguard. just a great guitar. i see they’ve become pretty popular over the last few years. i feel really lucky that i bought one that appears to be very unique and not easily found among some of the more mass-produced models. i tried to have the stock single coils replaced with some nice, fat sounding humbuckers a while back, but everyone i brought it to refused to alter this guitar! so, yeah.

guitar #3: Rickenbacker 620 in “flameglow” red. i used to play this one almost singularly for a while, but it’s been gathering dust ever since i then went out and purchased the…

Gretsch 6122 Chet Atkins Country-Classic. i can’t say enough about this thing, so i won’t.

i also own a crappy Alvarez/Yamaha acoustic. i’d really like to look at some Guilds though.

Yeah me neither. But those are very PRS type characteristics
