Guyute

then again, I usually steer clear of that song

yeah. i cant say i heard any one better or worse than any other. different placement, different reactions, same song. IMHO.

the 2 standout GUYUTES were 10/31/95 bustout and the monster 7/24/99. However, this song usually represents a bathroom/beer break for me.

of what i’ve seen 10-31-95 was surreal, but i like the 10-8-94 (second time played) in VA. it was a great new song and it was great to hear some really technical type stuff again.

Guyute is one of those tunes that really doesn’t change much each time they played it. It’s great though. I really dig the 8.8.98 Merriweather show…segues right out of a smokin’ Sneakin’ Sally. The version on Seis de Mayo is one of my favorites…probably because it is so much different then when Phish played it.

i have to say i kinda agree with neck. i know i got a buncha versions of songs from different shows, but I couldnt tell you the difference between em even if i tried, they all sound pretty great so. yeah, thats my 2 cents.

A lot of people say they don’t “Get this song”. I loved this song from teh moment I heard it. It is one of my favorite songs from that album, just behind birds and ghost.

One thing i’ll say is it was the most popular song on tour all through 96 and into 97. If you all can believe that!

^
what?

one that really appealed to me, although not my favorite, was the HCA version. very well played and fun

I must say, the section towards the end that kind of builds into a metal-ish speed frenzy is one of my favorite moments from the song. The whole thing is incredible really, but the first time I heard that part I was blown away.

5/21/00 Radio City.

It’s just a great song though. The lyrics are pure poetry

It absolutey shits on The Beatles “Piggies” from the White album. I love that album but hate that song

wait what does piggies have to do with guyute? there is no comparison whatsoever.

I just remember hearing this one before the Providence Bowie in 94 and being blown away at the time…Since then it has not exactly grown on me

They played it too much after they recorded it.

Gillacutty, way ^^, I agree about the “metal-ish speed frenzy” build up near the end! Great section to listen to workin out. Love that part! Don’t so much dig the first part at all, but I really love the latter section.

I have 2 guyutes in my collection: 7/8/00, and 12/29/24. I prefer my LP5 version (7/8), because the NYE run show’s is slower. it really drags in parts.

I think that’s what makes a good guyute; an upbeat tempo.

and lets not forget the orchestral Guyute! boy oh boy is that a tune!

This song still annoys me.

From my knowledge, I’m not sure they played a show on 12/17/97
