Excellent tune! Page came up with a winner.
I’d have to listen again but if my memory serves me the bass reminded me of moma dance ie funky and the guitar melody was gentle if not melancholy… in any case a cool tune.
This tune deserves another appearance. Thumping bass line.
I just gave it another spin and it’s definitely a deserving tune. This one and Dr. Gabel ought to go into rotation for sure.
I haven’t listened to this song in a little bit, but I loved seeing them play it and I loved listening to it a few times. It needs to resurface.
Loving this one…AC please!
Broomfield version was even better than the SPAC one. They obviously rehearsed it a little bit more. ![]()
listening to the stream tonight when they were going into it i thought it was “what’s the use?”
the guitar riff was kinda similar
it also sounds pretty identical to Page’s Beauty of a Broken Heart. I like both of them s lot though!
I’d like to catch one of these this summer. Trey’s notes haunt over Page’s somber piano riff in a way that make this song a sick landing spot for a jam. The darker the better. I’m listening to the 10/23 version but now I’m going to have to restart it from Caspian to get the full segue. Mike’s drops some filthy bombs going into Boogie On!
i hope this ends up being recorded in studio. i really like this sound, and i bet they can make it super epic layering different keyboard and guitar tracks into it.
i’m really hopeful for a live jam that goes way deep too… my ear tells me it would likely usually jam like Theme or Limb by Limb, but both of those have had occasional liftoff moments too. ![]()
^ Good call. I came to this thread to raise that same question. Is this a possible for the next album?
Also, if anyone has any tips for a guitar arrangement of this song please share.
patiently awaiting the return of this song … BRING IT BACK!!!
I was at SPAC for the debut. They’ve definitely tightened it up since. Probably doesn’t go with the vibe for the new record, but I’d love to see this one on the new record. One of Page’s better tunes in a while, certainly in the Phish world.
Half the weight of the moon
So glad this made the Album and it fits perfectly IMO. Brilliant tune.

You know, I have to confess, I’m not a very good Phish fan. I must not spend enough time listening to the shows or paying attention to the threads.
I can’t believe this tune is over four years old and the first time I heard it was a few days ago when I received a copy of Fuego. Either I’ve got early onset Altzheimers, or I should hang my head in shame about being so detached from things.
This is a great fricken song, and I don’t know how the live versions sounded (but I guess I will find out), but the studio version is my favorite song on this album so far. The production value is outstanding and the rest of the band support and surround Page in this recording like a warm blanket. It’s really wonderful.
Excuse me while I pick up the crop and begin the self flagellation.
