Halloween Live Phish releases...again!!

I’m planning on doing a marathon of the four Live Phish Halloween shows starting today, so let’s rehash this discussion again.

1998 please and thank you. followed by 96, 95, goethe, 94, other.

I bet you I’m the only one that votes for the one I voted for. But if you can find me a better 1st or 3rd Halloween set be my guest. Icculus, YEM, Harpua…'nuff said.

I tend to listen to the Velvet Underground disc more than the Talking Heads one, but I think overall LP15 is a better show, so I voted for it.

98 ;D

It’s only 3 months from…you know.

^
???

What am I missing here B?

3 months from “1999” Phish, and technically it’s more like 2 months but whatever.

Taking all things into consideration, I voted 1998. I like their 1998 sound more than the other years. I like the 1998 first set best but the 1996 third set best. As far as actual cover sets, it is a tie between 94 and 98.

Still. 1998.

‘98 is the weakest! I do like the VU costume set, but the other two sets don’t match the other years’.

96 is my favorite, but both 94 and 95 are solid efforts

What’s wrong with '98 set I?

You tell me, right now, specifically why it doesn’t match the other years.
The “Sally -> Chalkdust” is ripping! A lengthy “PYITE” opener! A FUCKING FIRST SET “MIKE’S GROOVE.”

yeah I like set 1…I was just watching the DVD recently, actually.

Sally–>Chalkdust is crunchy for sure, but the rest is pretty standard, imo.

The other Halloween first sets are just better, flat out, IN MY HUMBLE OPINION.

Fair enough. I was just giving you a hard time.

In terms of non-cover sets, I’d rank them the following:

  1. 10/31/96 III (excellent versions of Maze, Simple and 2001)
  2. 10/31/94 III (Bowie, Slave and Coil!)
  3. 10/31/98 I (see above)
  4. 10/31/95 I (Divided Sky, Antelope, Harpua)
  5. 10/31/94 I (REBA)
  6. 10/31/95 III (Overrated YEM)
  7. 10/31/96 I (Eh. Good, not great)
  8. 10/31/98 III (Can do without)

yeah I didn’t mean to sound angry with the caps lock, I’m just high and being goofy

Hmm…see I’d be more like:

  1. 10/31/95 III (Best YEM ever)
  2. 10/31/98 III
  3. 10/31/95 I

and then the rest of them in whatever order.

I believe our tastes are polar opposites because I don’t quite dally in the mind-altering substances like I used to.

Me neither man, but they may have left a more lasting impact on me for some reason.

I paid $60 for Metal Machine Music…so that gives you an idea of where my listening tastes come from.

I think you’re right. While we both love Phish, our overall tastes in music dictates what type of Phish we like best.

It doesn’t mean I don’t love you Neil.

You wanna go to the Meat board together?

Ah. Er. Um.

tiptoes backwards out of thread

closes door

Good. Now that Neil’s outta here, can we all agree that '95 was the best Halloween show?
