Any thoughts on what they might be planning for the night?
I hope they do a regular show so I can read all the complaints about hearing Phish songs at a Phish concert.
At best they will play one of their other albums …
… at Worst it’s Wingsuit aka Fuego in its entirely.

I can agree with ^THAT … it’d be pretty weak if they played the Fuego album. Or Wingsuit again, haha.
I’m pretty sure this Halloween will be a total rager, costume set or not.

Seriously, though. If their new Halloween tradition is to perform a set of new Phish music that will make up a new album, I am so totally down. I realize that’s a lot of work for four guys with families who don’t need to do anything to make a living anymore, but damn that would be sweet.
Or one set of complete improv, a la the Flatbed Truck Jam, Tower Jam, etc.
What else sounds feasible instead of covering an album?
It took them 5 years between Joy and Wingsuit-Fuego.
What makes you think they will have en ENTIRE set of new songs ready in 3 months? At best it will be recycled tunes again (meaning already written).
It didn’t take them five years to write the songs that made up Fuego.

The band had “closer to 40” songs written that they brought to Bob Ezrin who narrowed it down to twelve when he met them at the barn.

Songs. Not Story of the Ghost outtakes or Siket Disc jams. Closer to 40 songs.
Who cares if they’re already written? Phish gets to decide when they debut songs, not you. And I don’t think anyone else cares if it’s a song that was written in 2014 or 1984 so long as 10/31/14 is the first time we hear it.
I think this year will be something different.
not worrying about it too much. I hope they do a traditional costume set but I’m sure it’ll be good times either way. just glad they’re finally playing out here.
Phish could write 10 albums between now and Halloween if they wanted to.
