this thread’s taken a turn for the weird.
i admit it, i kinda like it.

i admit it, i kinda like it.
by the way, i’m thinking about starting a band called CockBomb and we need a mellotron player if anyone’s interested.
first album: “Explosion”. it’s seriously gonna be powerful. power ballads and stuff.
I’m game, even though I don’t know how to play an instrument.
I can shake the tambourine or play the maracas or something.
Anyway…
This trio lets the crowd know you mean business.
I love the transition into 2001.
It kinda sneaks up on you and before you know it, it is ON!

A segue into “2001” is always cool in my book. Usually when Fish starts up the drumbeat the crowd goes nuts.
I think I have heard this show, but if I have it has been a looooong time. I will revisit this section today!
He doesn’t really “drop” the beat on this one.
It really is a true segue.
You can hear when Chris “drops” the 2001 lights, though.
The crowd goes ape.
a
Oh, sweet…a “true” segue into 2001.
I don’t think I hear enough or many of those.
Thanks!
You have too Neil…didn’t you listen to 12/11/99 yesterday? That was a sweet segue, though the segue into Sally was even tighter.
Nah, I never got around to it. I posted it in the “Today in Phishtory” thread but never actually listened to it.
I haven’t heard it in months. I can never remember which “2001” versions contain an actual segue or just “space -> 2001”
and with this
I’ve had my fill
this snippet is amazing. thanks so much mang.
yes, high-atus-guy
The 12-12-97 segue into “2001” was outstanding!

Can there be a best version of Sand?
Yes, and this is it.
This becomes such a rocker towards the end and even Mike strays from the standard bassline.

Ah, nice.
I love “Sand” and am always up for a nice version…23 minutes at that!
Thanks.
Oddly enough, this classic show was the only one played on this date (as is the Binghamton show from 03-20-1992).
Anyway, I was sick as a doggie this night but still had the energy to get down hard.
If you have never heard this show, you MUST.
It will truly blow your grill back.

8 years ago, the band opened their show with this fantastic version of Disease.
Underrated and mellow, this is how I like to get things started.

Here’s a fantastic Mike’s sandwich from 12 years ago.
The jam out of Simple is funky and the Weekapaug is dericious.
Check it.

All that bickering about phish and new people to the band thinking they got it all figured out and old hats getting their backs up is just the sort of thing that dries out my turkey. Aug buddy no need to justify yourself to someone who obviously doesn’t have much a clue.
And intll chill out, you’ve got to realize the amount of time, money and miles on the road these older tourheads have spent on phish. Where fans like you and I are armchair fans at best.
That being said, as most know perhaps, I was at that lake placid show for my 24 birthday. great memory there. I was so psyched for a Mikes and they delivered. A buddy and I drove thru a nasty little snowstorm across NH and VT high as satellites drinking VT catamounts to arrive at the show, park the car in a snow bank and just make it in for the Bag, missing the buried alive.
First, you’re the one re-hashing this debacle.
Second, you have no idea how much money, time, miles I’ve devoted to the band, so fuck off. You’ve based all this shit because I said that I’ve never heard the orpheum Bowie, and that my favorite jam… mind you, MY FAVORITE - not the ‘best’, whatever the hell that means, but MY FAVORITE jam is the tweezer from 2-28-2003. That is my favorite 27 minutes of phish, and none of you can argue that, or take it away from me.
Third, this whole thing got started because I said that the 10/21 Bowie is better than the 12/11 Bowie, which is true, but even if it wasn’t, God forbid I present an opinion.
Fourth, you weren’t involved in this discussion at all in the first place, so again, fuck off.
That is the end of argument. There is nothing else to be said.
hey, guy…slow yer roll. enough of this fuckin off business.
