Greg its freakin Harry Potter… its the ultimate popcorn, light-hearted, feel good, 6th grade books of all time. I don’t know who is comparing them to “literature”…
So spooks what is this “awesome, awesome fantasy” you speak of? I like fantasy but have fizzled out because I can’t find a writer who keeps my interest. However I did just re-read the Amber Spyglass… which kicks the butt.
Bought it on Friday, haven’t had a chance to read it until today. I’ve read about half of it and am going to work on finishing it up tonight and tomorrow. It’s pretty damn good so far.
Finished it today, it was great.
i read this guy named r.a salvatore who has a really good series called the legend of drizzt. others i havent read but apparently really good are the wheel of time series, and “a song of ice and fire”

I’ll elaborate, I thought she did a great job ending the series, with some great twists. The fight with Voldemeort at the end was so much fun, as was reading about Molly Weasley kill Belatrix. Harry’s conversation with Dumbledore was cool too, and I totally called Snape ending up being a good guy. I thought that the epilogue was kind of lame as she could have just said that they lived happily ever after, but it worked. Great book!

I tried to buy the HP today and out local Borders was out. BASTARDS.

I got my copy today from good ole walmart for $18.78. I felt like I was buying a pirated book off the black market.

btw HP is great. I completely forgot what happened in the last book but as I read the new one my memory slowly kicks in… slowly.
I read the Wheel of Time and yes there are certainly some slow parts…there’s no doubt…I read the entire tenth book and swore that nothing happened in the entire thing. Personally I don’t even view it as a legit fantasy book. Yes it’s set in a fantasy land with magic and all that but it’s so much more about the interactions and politics between lands and characters. It’s good stuff. I’ve heard he’s basically going to end the whole thing in the next book no matter how long it’s got to be since he’s got this rare protein disease.
Other than that, I’m not big into fantasy books. I feel like the Potter thing is kind of cheesy but at least it’s got kids these days actually reading books so who could complain?
And no…I haven’t seen any of the Potter movies. Actually I kind of half-saw some of the first one since I was playing on a computer at the same time and the stuff I saw gave me a headache.

wow, i bought mine at Heathrow airport in london because i read the 6th book in africa and couldnt wait to get to the states to start on this one… oh and the cover is different too, damn brits…
but anyway, holy shit, what a great way to end the septology… i was nearly crying at the end, i couldnt believe some of the answers to the old questions… but damn i’m happy the way everything turned out.
and the 19 years after, had me smiling the whole scene
