I have read this whole thread, which was pretty intense, and I still think that posts are >>>>>>> than chat. I joined this site because I searched for “Phish message board” on Google. I wanted a message board, and that’s what I found. Chat doesn’t really bother me though. Just not my cup of tea I suppose.
personally, i lurked around this site for months before i joined, looking in on rumors & whatnot… had a few posts after i joined, but was too intimidated by potential snotty remarks, so didn’t really put my thoughts out there… then, halloween last year, i found the chat room & realized that not everyone around here has their head up their ass & this place can be as welcoming as we all claim it to be… i’ve gotten to know some amazing people thru both the threads & posts, but my regular chatting buddies have turned into real life friends & touring partners. i think sometimes it gets a bit catty & cliquey around here & as a smaller community, that’s to be expected. but i’m having a hard time wondering why this is even an issue? isn’t the whole point for people to come together & share our love for this band, in whatever medium that requires?
Can i also mention that some topics brought up in chat turn into threads? (see: in this thread, we talk about BACON!!!)
for once, everyone… on both sides, get your freaking panties out of a bunch… if your vagina hurts that bad, get yo’self down to planned parenthood
& besides, if all we had was the boards, how would i know about eric’s mcgriddle guilty pleasure?
LOL, so this is an “open discussion,” but if you haven’t been here for years, then you should STFU and not participate. Got it. And you wonder why more people don’t post in threads?
I still haven’t heard how ppl using the chat is hurting those who don’t?
I’ll openly admit that I don’t really post that much anymore because of the chat feature. But. I’m gonna be even more honest and say that I have joined the dark side aka the PT green board and have been on there much more than here, only because threads move faster and there are more people in my area so I can find out what kinds of cool things are going on around. just don’t forget to be breezy people. and keep it real!
All I was saying is why can’t we be cordial & express our thoughts for phish freely?
But thanks for proving my point
I, personally don’t post unless i have a REALLY good point to make b/c of shit like this…that’s also the reason i quit PT… have you ever thought your behavior deters people from posting? & for the record glenn… i was on the old board & miss the skins… if that’s even relevent
have a good day, i love you all… however we end up communicating
Do you really think you can’t post freely on your thoughts regarding Phish? Not everyone will agree with your thoughts, I mean there are the sportos and motor heads, geeks, sluts, bloods, wastoids, dweebies, dickheads that all have differnt points of view. For the most part though…here at the Pa I don’t think you will get flamed for any of your thoughts. There could be heated discussions, but what’s so bad about that?
This is it right here folks. Everyone is so damn sensitive that this thread has turned ugly. Nobody said that if you chat, you’re hurting the Pa. We were talking about the chat itself, the chat being the subject noun. I think it is a topic worth discussing, and it doesn’t require anyone being defensive.
This brings me to my main point. People who are afraid to post in threads for fear of being disagreed with or maybe even poked fun at are probably not cut out for message boards. Message boards, by nature, contain lots of disagreements, and that is part of the whole point of them in the first place. Don’t be afraid someone might correct you, what do you care if they correct you? If you believe in what you say, say it and stand by it, and don’t be afraid of someone’s potential response. Don’t let that stop you from posting in threads.
