Have We Tipped Into 4.0?

1.0 phish reaching maturity and then thinking they climbed the highest mountain (both them AND us thinking that)
2.0 bad juju. bad juju. bad juju
3.0 exorcising the demons and strength training. peak physical and mental conditioning training routine
4.0 new peak, maturity adding a layer of control over the rediscovered synergy that came with the healing?

phishs momentum right now is as high as i have ever seen it (i didnt make cypruss  ). a band based on improv can never be “perfect,” but damn

wherever you are sitting right now, it is a good time to see and hear phish. a really really good time. this is coming from a “jaded vet”

i dont think phish has to stop playing for a couple years every time we want to graduate them another level of awesomeness.

Phish 4.0? how does that sound?

or should we call just call them phish again?

and who the fuck is this collective “we?” were we voted in or was this a coup? who is our leader? will there be punch and pie?

seriously, the only thing thats missing, to me, are the antics (keyboard cavalry, big ball jam, chess, etc), and that is quite alright. as entertaining as some of them have been, they dont translate well to tape and i would rather have the 3+ hour sets of this era than the 2.25 hour sets or so of 1.0 with more antics

cheers to phish, who seem perched to summit to new heights 8 years after recovering from rock bottom

disclaimer not a professional fanboy. simply giddy at the momentous musical breakthrough this summer. i reserve the right to bitch every time i see them and they dont play tela, daniel, or brother. i also reserve the right to sneak backstage (once again) and bitch at them for not playing more so cal shows

until they take another hiatus, we’re in 3.0

sorry to be a debbie

yeah I think it has more to do with time on/time off

if it was judged any other way we would be in like Phish 7.0 by now

that being said, this summer on the whole isn’t even the same band as I saw before this year…except maybe Lakewood

i do think a critical threshold has recently been crossed. we will certainly know more same time next week. plus, i am not really into any more phish hiatus

at all

nope

not allowed

we get them west coast infrequently enough, its not like they are playing 330 gigs a year

not ok with hiatus. not an option. life is too short

how about just plain phish? havent we evolved past the crap that mandated “we” add the silly .0 shit and remember to live in the moment?

this summer went to 20

Dude, they aren’t even Phish anymore. They’ve evolved into Phrimates.

^win

I vote 3.1

3.1 was right after fluffhead at hampton

Fall 2010 is still my favorite tour since the return

I would have agreed with you until this summer. No question its gotta be '12

I have never had as much fun at a show than I’ve had these past few months and just hope it carries over to next year

I think summer 2012 beats that fall tour, but there is something that happens with fall Phish that is special. Charleston were great shows, as well as Cincy. I think they straight up play differently inside. I’m jonesing for some indoor Phish right now though.

i want t&m in fall but i so know that is bad for trey and prolly musnt happen

i have done every vegas show except 2004 when it was entirely appropriate to have missed it

now i miss vegas phish (with moe afterparties)

3 night run at t&m with an intelligent promoter booking the joint for the after party, like particle one night, galactic the next, moe to cap it. since there will be no 10/31 and labor day is as close as a festi as we got and msg all but confirmed… this fall leaves a mighty wide open shot to bring trey and his sponser to vegas!

I always thought 1.0 was the Holdsworth days.

There was a lot of good “Post hiatus Phish” (or as it is now being called 2.0.) Roundroom, which is my favorite Phish album, was 2.0. Pebbles and Marbles, Seven Below, Waves, Roundroom are all songs that I have on my wishlist for every show I see. I will take a spaced out, albeit sloppy, 2.0 jam over the 3.0 (or 4.0  ) micro jam 9 times out of 10*.

*Rock & Roll from Long Beach ruled my face

Set 1 at dicks is hands down proving the band is “back” “new” and “inventive”…

Wish we could have all been there :frowning:

you know, i liked round room ALOT. i listened to undermind like once and they called it a day, and i never listened to it again.

round room tho, that is a great album. i always was a necter person myself, but round room REALLY grew on me. so i agree, 2.0 started with good intentions…

so

if you went to colorado, you got…

a meatstick after they grind and spend all night fucking your face at dicks

this is whole new level of musical maturity

this is like phish 6.9 now
