While I dont know what number should represent this part of Phish, I do know that they are playing on a completely different level than any time in the past 3 years. I’m not going to argue that they are better than 2.0 or 1.0, but what I do know is that they are having a blast playing together and we the fans are the beneficiaries of it all.
Every tour there are people who always complain, no matter what the band does. They complain about OKC, so the band comes out and essentially Fucks Our Faces at Dicks Night one, and people still try to compare it to 1.0 and how it was lacking. Give me a break. Bands and people change over time. Every band has done so. I’m just glad that even though the band has “evolved”, its been in an amazing direction. Phish has been together for 30 years and if they played the same songs, the same ways that they did back in '83-'00, people would complain that they sound the exact same.
Personally I love where the band is at. They are doing what THEY want to do and having fun with it. So they don’t wanna play a 5 song set, who cares. They proved they can still do it at Dicks 1, so to the people who say they’ve lost something, maybe you’ve lost your minds instead. This isn’t directed at anyone on this board at all. It is more towards .net and pt’ers than anything.
I’m looking so forward to NYE this year and '13, cannot wait to see what the band has instore with the new album and face melting 30 year ann. People will still complain, but let them. I just hope those people stay where they are and don’t come to the 'pa to infect us with their negativity
