trancemission

1st set is classical and is tits

other sets are spectacular as well, great sound

that 6/26 show is something special, would have been there but was supposed to go see them a week from then 7/3 on the boardwalk in seaside, but the show got cancelled, they had been practicing and recording in the time before the 6/26 show, it shows, i can’t imagine how of the hook 7/3 would have been, it wasn’t tractorbeam, but it was the biscuits and it was after they did that shitty dumb tour where they did one setters, and the 7/3 was going to be a fourth of july party/practice before they went out and did their west coast stuff

check out that link above, also check out 2/17, 7/11, 7/19 (10kls), and 5/21

pretty much the best of 07 for the biscuits

the classical set definitely rules face!

and I was supposed to be at that 7/3 show too!! friggen bastards. if i had known it was gonna be cancelled I would have raged the Tractobeam in Lancaster too!

The entire Camp Bisco run this year is freakin’ awesome. They seem to be experimenting and trying new things with their rhythmical improvs. I bought the whole week-end from livedownloads and it was well worth it. Especially the afternoon sets. Set one is iffy, but set two rules, espcially when they guy from STS9 and Simon from Shpongle sit in for the 20 minute dub improv.

Ths Dumb tour aside, this has bee the year of Bisco.

^my favorite camp set was definitly the Jigsaw Magellan set. it was so fucking magical
I also love Rainbow Song>Spacebird too. I have all the camp sets too and they rock!

I wish I could get into the whole techno jam thing. Maybe it’s because I’ve never really tried, but any sort of techno just automatically grates on me. I’m pretty bummed out that tDB gets 3 sets at Echo Project, but I’ve decided to at least give them a shot and go in with an open mind. That’s all anyone can do right?

^LISTEN TO HAYMAKER!!!

JUST DO IT!!!

BISCO CRACK ROCK and the jams are SOOO SOLID!

by the way, I love how our favorite previously AWOL OKPers are both back and posting in my thread!

I don’t really think Bisco has anything remotely Techno about them. They use more of the Miles Davis style of rhythmical improvivisation (on albums like On The Corner) where the rhythm instruments become the focus and the main instruments follow the rhythmical progressions. Hence, the “Trance” feel of repetitive progressions, riffs, and musical sections. Dance music has always followed this minimalistic approach, replacing melodic variations with rhythmical builds and driving repititions. Bisco uses the rhythmical focus to build epic tunes into full blown freak outs. And it’s addiciting to listen to for rhythm junkies like myself and others!

To be honest, I think Phish began to embrace this approach in their last two years. For a while, I thought it was just unambitious rambling. But thanks to time, I have started to really enjoy these long drawn out improvs that were psychedelic and minimal. I believe Disco Biscuits use that same approach, albeit in a different and more minimalistic approach.

Three sets of Bisco=brilliant psychedelic delight!

BISCO rules you. Except it.

I will not except it.

I will not accept it, either.

The first night of Haymaker…set one ending 27 minute Megellan…BEST BISCO EVER. Godamn.

Freaking amazing.

^have u spun 8/16/03 yet?

http://www.archive.org/details/db2003-08-16.shnf

it’s waiting

Trancemission=Bisco brilliance. The classical set is amazing.

And fucking aye…Mindless Dribble in dub!!!

I’m totally diggin the Trancemission sets this afternoon!

Trancemission Set 2… Magellan Reprise > Spacebirdmatingcall > Three Wishes > The Big Happy (Highwire) > I Remember When > And the Ladies Were the Rest of the Night > Spacebirdmatingcall > Humuhumunukunukuapua’a > Reactor.

Hot fucking damn…

i love the way bird goes into the three wishes and then how three wishes goes into big happy (highwire) the segueways are great so smooth

^fuck yeah! yay for bisco!

I agree. I love dance music.

I respond way more to the rhythm when dancing as opposed to melodic stuff.

Seeing DB for the first time on 11/1. This thread gets me psyched!
