Hidden Track

the demand on hoist shows on your wmp or itunes as a 10 or 12 minute track.
there’s a slience after demand and then the “hidden” or “not hidden” track begins, as someone is playin a radio in their car and then throws on a split.
this is the live split from 1993 as pointed out by will breathes.
the jam quiets and mike and trey start singing “yerushalaim shel zahav” - which means “jeruslam of gold”.
it’s a very old jewish song and holds deep sentimental value for some.
this can also be said for phish’s version of “avenu malkenu”.
the whole sequence is clearly not one song, which is why some peeps like to call it hidden due to it’s lack of representation on the back of the album.

According to the Phish Companion, they consider “Demand” to be everything before the car. So to hear the full song, they need to play “Demand > SOAMelt > Jerusalem of Gold”. To me, the album version is all one song.

I’d also like to add that “2 seconds” of blank is nothing. Most “secret songs” are more like 6 minutes of blank.

The full thing was performed on 6/26/94 and on 4/14/94. 4/14 is rated by the Companion to be better; it has a better SOAM.

I wholeheartedly disagree.

I wouldn’t go so far as to call the SOAMelt jam “hidden” or anything though.

I remember being so excited when I realized it was a live jam from a concert. It was the first live phish I ever heard. Well sorta.
