How do you like your second sets?

insanity. a hose-down in every sense. by then i’m ready to be kicked in the teeth and dragged around a bit. i’m vulnerable to be taken away for a good couple hours, and once those lights come up after the encore i wanna be wondering what the hell just happened cuz i was in a trance for that set!!!

jawbone, you weren’t kidding, a poll-making machine last night!!

“as much as can possibly happen” and “segue in>out>into something else>out>in again” can sometimes be one in the same…and that’s what i’m looking for!

if you ever passed out at a phish show…even summer festivals or big cypress…you’re lame.

LOL great poll.

Hmmmmm.

Rocking opener -> jam > Fan favorite, Showstopper -> groovy, funky jam -> Showstopper > spacey groove -> weird antics on stage -> slow song, Slave to the Traffic Light or Antelope

I like a hybrid between a > filled set and no more than 5 songs, ala fall '97 with some crunchy-funk taboot!

NO MORE THAN 5 SONGS. Second place goes to segue fests because I like both. I always felt like second sets should be when all the rules go out the window and the band just jams the fuck out.

yep. tis true.

second set…gotta want the insanity and endless possibilities…the lights go down for set two and the energy is kickin so i want as much as possible

‘as much as can possibly happen’ just because that’t the most subjective answer…

i mean, sometimes more could happen in 4 or 5 songs than if they played those songs shorter and play 8 or 9, u-nah-mean?

sometimes that could mean playing crazy or obscure songs, or just good ole faithful showstoppers

…i guess i like my second set however they want to give to me on the night (well…usually…i won’t mention which thread to refer to for an exception…haha).

I don’t really need 35 minute jams but I would love to see a segue-fest!

i would like to see them play just two sick as hell jams, and that be the entire set. like, a 50 minute piper followed by a 20-25 minute wolfmans, or something. any song will do. hell, how bout a 40 minute bouncing? that would kick ass

/\ Derp 11/29/97. Set two has a 50 minute-ish Runaway Jim.

i dig the segue-fest…great jams in and out of each other without stopping. thats what i hope for.

i know greg. but they played 4 songs after that. just two songs, two insanely long jams. i dont think they have ever just jammed one song for an entire set. which would rule.

You need to go download IT and get the bonus discs. The soundcheck and the Tower Jam are basically what you’re looking for. This all gives me an idea for anudder thread…

agree 100%

40 minute bouncing??? bwahahahahaha

I enjoy my second sets rare to medium rare
