how many funerals have you been to?

i know its a weird question…i was thinking about it after finding out that my girlfriends brother’s first funeral attended was his grandmothers when he was 18.

one of my first memories is my cousin telling me to touch my uncles hand while he was laying in the casket. “hes cold” she told me.

well i just counted…and i know im missing several. but off the top of my head i count 14.

im sure some of you have been to more…but that seems high.

Same here. First funeral for me was 18. My great aunt. Since then I’ve only attended 3, I think.

So I think 4 total. Most recent was last July…before that was in 2002.

My first was my grandfather when I was 15. Two friends, about a year apart to the day, since.

But in all honesty… I have been to… Well, I don’t know the exact number, but I would say more than a dozen.

Uh, really I must have been to more than 5. Two grandparents, my mother-in-law, a boss’s husband, … a friend’s mother … that’s five right there. I know there’s more.

This thread is nowhere near as funny as that caption the picture of the hambike lady thread.

it was intended to be funny…i was just curious…14 seemed excessive and first funeral at 18 seemed weird too…i dont know.

though i always thought it was funny when id ask my mom how someone died and she’d say “his heart stopped.”

i’ve actually attended 5 but i maybe should have gotten to one or two more that i just couldn’t make it to.

my first was when i was about 15 i’d say and it was open casket (a great aunt). I couldn’t bring myself to touch the body. My brother touched it though. He was on LSD at the time.

My mom and dad had 6 siblings each and most of them were married, so I’ve been to more funerals than I can count. The number has to be more than 20, and in an Italian family, I can’t say any one of them was an especially “good” time. Add to that a few co-workers and friends parents, etc. and the total has got be somewhere between 25 and 30 if you’re counting attending the wake and/or the actual funeral service. If you’re talking only the funeral, the number is closer to 20.
