I’m guessing that his mind exploded so vigorously at that Pershing show that it took him three years to reassemble it and be willing to risk that sort of damage all over again.
Nah, I was 18 years old and Lincoln is my Home town and I was given a free ticket, so I thought I’ll go check these dudes out. The did play in Omaha in 96 but it was one of the worst snow storms of the year that night so I didn’t make the trek the 60 miles . Being a young broke college kid I didn’t have the means to travel and see any other shows. My woman at the time ended up moving down to texas in 98’ so I went to visit her (trip paid for by my parents of course) and thought why not go when phish is in town… The rest is history…
Six weeks after my first show, I stood outside at a sold out show with my friends Matt & Lisa, for as long as I thought they’d find it reasonable, to listen from outside the building to the muffled sound of what might have been Split Open & Melt.
Yup we made the 380 mi trip up to Ames that yr Never been on the road for that bad of a storm, its Ice is an understatement! Trucks and cars were sliding off the road left and right. It was wild. We didn’t end up getting to Ames and into the show until the last song or two of the second set. So really I’ve seen 74 shows but I give myself 75 for the effort
Thought I should at least answer this threads question instead of headin in some tangent…
Been to 174 shows that started back on 6/18/94 UIC pavilion… Aragon Ballroom 93 was supposed to be my first but I got grounded(I was 15 and living with the 'rents… Bastards! )
Don’t know what my longest streak is… Maybe 15 or so? I saw a ton of shows in 98 and 99…
My fave shows on my list that I can say I was at would be cypress(or course right?), Boise 99, NYE 95 (was an Xmas gift from my parents so I guess that makes up for the grounding ), UIC 94 both of them, and Halloween 98… Loaded pwns!
