Life is easy when you don’t need to wait to convert to listen or burn.
And BitTorrent opens up an entire new world to you. It isn’t just for Phish/Grateful Dead/jambands.
Check out DimeADozen, TheTradersDen, and about 25% of the torrents on SHNFLAC.
It took me a while to fully understand bittorrent, it is not like I downloaded everything and took off. It takes time and effort to first understand it, but after that, it is SO EASY. It is one of those things you may have trouble with at first, but once you understand, you will wonder why it seemed so difficult before.
Good recommendation. I use Nero for all of my DVD burning.
The only problem is that is not a free program, and i dont think
that anyone just getting into BT would have it…
I dont know know if you use shntool to fix SBE’s while burning, but Furio! fixes them on-the-fly, which is a good feature of that program.
i use BT. love etree, shnflac, and trader’s den. they are by FAR, the best kept secret that shouldnt have to be a secret on the internet. i dl shows all the time. then convert the files to WAv and burn to CD. BUT (and this is a big but), i delete the compressed files and the wavs from my pc and convert them to mp4 for my ipod. i use to leave them in wav but it just took up too much space. especially since i dont have my external im really forcced to. (keep in mind i dont have a dvd burner). does this make me a bad person? i know this is really looked down upon in the trading community but i do not try to circulate the mp4s. i always try to keep my ratios for shows at at least 1.0. My shnflac ratio is about 1.5. Why is is that awful if i convert the files to mp4 to save space on my computer so i dont have to buy an 1000GB external?
its not wrong at all.
the main point is sharing.if you share 100%, that is all that the community really asks of you.
even if you were archiving, there really is no need to keep the wav files.
they are quite large and take up space.
if you dont have a burner or a small HD, there isnt much room for lossless shows, so it really is no big deal.
if all you can do is keep a window up until 100%, that is fine.
not everyone has the capacity to archive.
good work!

i have been trying forever to properly foward my port but i cant seem to do it right. i thought i had it this morning but turns out i did something wrong. i have linskys router. i think i mess up when i am setting up the static ip address but im not sure.
make sure, after you set up your static ip, that you exit out of all of that, and go back to your router page on portforward.com .
there are a few more steps you must take in order to complete it.
what model router and what BT client do you have?
a
tried it again to no avail. i use utorrent and have a WRT54G Linksys router. this time i got all the way secuirty web page and finished the whole thing but utorrent still says my port is blocked. i also restarted utorrent to see if it would recognize anything but it didnt.
ok somethin fishy is goin on. will it take a while to recognize that my port is open? on my utorrent screen there is still a yellow sign but when i test my port it gives the green…
