yeah, one of my favorite places in NC, Ocracoke Island, is being evacuated today. Gee, hope it doesn’t destroy the place we’re going to in VA Beach in about 20 days.

which is kind of nice because the breeze is taking a lot of edge off the ridiculous heat that’s plagued us this summer.

I love Ocracoke. We try to make it down there once a year, but can’t keep that schedule. I have a friend that has a house on the beach in Rodanthe. Hope it’s still there by Labor Day.
Hell we’re headed down to the OBX in a couple of weeks. Hope it’s there for us.

i didn’t even know there was a hurricane coming. i was in charleston today and the waves were pretty big. knocked me on my ass a few times. maybe the hurricane had something to do with that. 
Oh man, this is gonna be interesting. I remember when I lived here before, in '06 I think it was, we got hit by some major storms that came off some hurricane that was out in the Atlantic. I don’t remember much detail, but I remember it fucked our campus up pretty damn bad (I was in school up here in high school). It actually pulled a huge old oak tree right out of the ground. The root structure was so huge it ripped up a huge chunk of pavement. Man, that was pretty nuts. I wonder if that’s about to happen again. I sure hope not, I like having electricity.
