I think i’ve heard a lot of people on this board claim that Trey doesnt have a solid singing voice or whatever and I just wanna speak up on this topic. I remember the first Phish song I ever heard and it was If I could. and I remember really being blown away at first by the vocals and the piano, I was in like 6th or 7th grade. There is something so unique and real about the way he sings. Its not perfect but he has a soothing sound that is nice and raw, not too trained or anything or too screamy, its just perfect. Rock on Trey!
Yeah, true. I like how his voice kinds of cracks in “Dog Faced Boy” and also “Swept Away”. I think a good artist uses their limitations to their benefit. Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash and Lou Reed all do a lot with a little too, but it’s the raw expressiveness of their words and their performance that you feel.

The only reason my Wife doesn’t like Phish all that much is Trey’s voice. A shame really, because she likes the extended jams and the delicate songs that Page sings like TELA, VELVET SEA, & STRANGE DESIGN.
I myself find nothing wrong with big red’s voice. I especialy like it when he sings delicate songs like WASTE.
Jerry’s voice is great, too. I love the way he sings on the late '60s versions of “Death Don’t Have No Mercy”. He get’s real expressive. “Wharf Rat” and “Bird Song” have so much soul. His voice is really child like. I a lot of ways Kurt Cobain’s voice sounds like Jerry’s. They are both these kind of high tenor who allow there voices to kind of crack a little like they were starting to cry. It sounds very vulnerable. They also have that kind of fake-hillbilly thing going on.

Like when he is just so totally into a jam? My non-phish friends think he is the geekiest looking guy, but sometimes I just want to jump his bones!
I LOVE early/young Trey’s voice… I think I have said it before… But you get the feeling this is still a young man who has NO idea what is in store for him.
It’s nice to know that there are women in the universe who find dorky bearded guys who are “totally into a jam” sexy.
I think Trey looks sexy when he wears a nice button down shirt. He started looking a lot classier in the later years, like Eric Clapton.

Compare pics of him in '93='95 during his “sneakers, striped MC HAMMER pants, and cut-off t-shirt days” as opposed to pretty much all post-hiatus (and some in '99, '00) “nice jeans, button-down shirt, and nice tennis shoes.” at IT he even wore a leather jacket. He looked suave, that’s for sure. I prefer the classier look.

I think that all of their voices are marginally bad. They absolutly sing way better then me, but considerably worse then Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Sam Cook, or even (my favorite) Bob Mould.
I seriously doubt if the way they dress affect their voices. But I am glad that all of you guys want to sleep with him!
Trey has one of the best voices, period. Speaking or singing. Who gives a shit if he was raspy from partying in Vegas? Frankly I’ll take a million Treys, Cobains, and Hendrixes over Mariah Carey anyday. I was watching the Las Vegas DVD, and then the Specimens of Beauty DVD, last night and it really hit me that I just like him as a person and as an artist. I would give up all my possessions just to be able to hang out in the Barn.

I like treys voice, unfortunatly the critics think that because it is alittle raspy that means his voice sucks. I wouldn’t marry it or anything, i like it as a friend. now page’s voice on the other hand hubba hubba.
