I spend a lot of time pondering Yoda…the idea of a thing from some other guy’s mind. It seems real enough to me when I think about it. The Empire. The Rebellion. Oh yeah. A long time ago…etc, etc. Who’s to say that it never happened?
So in ROTS Yoda says goodbye to Chewbacca and some other Wookie and blasts off from Kashyyk to Dagobah in a little stashed-away escape pod. It is approximately 19 years between his arrival on Dagobah and Luke’s visit there in ESB. What the hell did Yoda do for 19 years? How did he build his igloo-house thing? How did he spend his days? Did he telepathically Jedi-style talk to past Jedis? Lightsaber/Jedi workouts in the swamp? What did he eat? Did he make tea every day at Jedi tea time? These are important things that I need to know. And what about Obi Wan on Tatooine for 19 years? What were his days like? What was the Sandpeople attitude towards Jedis/lightsabers?
I should probably spend my time thinking about life here inside my head. I always feel like I’m somewhere else.

Welp … Novel Gandalf > Film Gandalf … not because I have any problem with the portrayal of Gandalf, but just because the books are far better.
Any time I sit back to read the film, it doesn’t work out … I end up using the VCR since reading the tape doesn’t really work. And see, that’s where the books are a better read.
