I now say "right on"

habitually!!

cripes, I have no idea how this started. Its my only response now when someone says something to me that is agreeable. I used to hear people say it all the time, and I kind of chuckled, thinking it was kind of cliche or 60’s counterculture-ish…and now I say it all the time.

I guess I’m joking some of the times I say it, but now, there’s times when it just comes out without me thinking about it!

Maybe I’m just really burnt out. oh well it could be worse.

you just need a new phrase. i like “heavens to betsy” quite a bit.

example:

someone: hello kind sir, would you care to take a puff of this crazy, left handed jazz cigarette?

me: well heavens to betsy, i sure would if i do say so myself.

someone: well by all means, here you are!

me: much abliged. thank you my strange brown friend.

someone: no, thank you.

see how nice that works out?

I’m down with “right on”, say it all the time. I’m trying my damndest to bring back “groovy” but so far, I’m flying solo. The chicks at work just laugh at me when I say it and call me a “damn hippie”.

^^“Heavens to Betsy” To be agreeable though?

“Hank, I just recycled all your beer bottles for ya, cool?”

“Oh sure, heavens to Betsy.”

“What?”

Actually, I hear ya about saying “right on” because I’ve been suffering the exact same fate bro. Right on, man. Groovy.

i’ve been know to say right on…

mine is “heavens to mercatroy”
i picked that up when i was little from the gramma.

I always thought it was Mergatroid.

Wait, why are we giving Heaven to all these lady-strangers?

^^^he would clearly answer “well heavens to betsy, thank you for doing that!” and he would then tip his top hat in your direction and give a little point and wink if he knows his manners.

for some reason I think “Right on” is pretty annoying, because it is pretty generic.

however, when saying bye to people, I now find myself saying “Take it easy”
and I love it, and today I just figured out who I picked it up from…my mom. go figure…

oh ya I say “take it easy” all the damn time. My most common goodbye probably.

well, right on.

Yeah, I say right on a lot too, and deadly and awesome and and groovy and take it easy and dig it too much stupid shit that is just part of my vocabulary and I can’t cut it out, even when I’m trying to make a sale to some kind of professional douchebag. Yeah…this thread should focus on the dumb shit that we say.

slang words/phrases that I use habitually:

word
righteous
right on
awesome
dope
tight
gravy
bitchin’
sweet

My slang phrase is “fair enough” because I feel like it reflects my incredibly ambivalent attitude better than anything else. My slang word is probably “dope,” its just a great all around word, especially to use around squares.

I do think right on is awfully cliche sounding though. I think of Jon Stewart in that one Dave Chappelle movie about pot.

also, i’m largely in favor of making up my own slang words.

slamgasm
bossfunk
illwhip

those are pretty nice

right on

It’s better than Groovy!

Right on.

Take it easy all.

indeed

There’s this dude on the radio who says “Holy garbage!!” a lot and now I find myself saying it too. It works for me.

I’m also a fan of “Geez!!” and “Good Lord!!”

Stevo

Geez is good, but I’m more a fan of Jeeze.
