I Saw That Bustout!

Caught a nice little run before hiatus #1 with a bust out each night

Ha ha ha, 6/30/00, first in 56 shows (9/9/99)
Buried Alive, 7/1/00 first in 88 shows (11/27/98)
Fluffhead, 7/3/00, first in 31 shows (12/5/99)
Foam, 7/3/00, first in 88 shows (11/28/98)
Magilla, 7/4/00, first in 124 shows (8/1/98)

Now that I think about it, I caught the next “Magilla” after this one on 7-22-03

here’s a few

7/30/03 - lonesome cowboy cill, spocks brain (!)
2/28/03 - destiny unbound, soul shakedown party
7/12/98 - foreplay/longtime (ELECTRIC!)
7/13/98 - N02
12/28/98 - quinn the eskimo
8/15/98 - sanity (was this a bustout?)

My fav bustout that I saw was my first Phish show… 3/22/93 Set two Gamehendge. WHOA!

Also 11/20/98 I saw Quinn and Fish rapping Get Jiggy wit It.

9-16-99 On your Way down. A song i thought i would never hear and it was a lil ruined for me. This Dude in front of me turns around with his setlist book and asks “This is High Time Correct?” I reply “No, it’s called on your way down” He then goes on to tell me i am wrong and stupidly i am debating the name of this song and missing it. About 30 seconds into the debate i come to my senses and just tell him to write whatever he wants. It’s my fault i should have never let it get that far in the first place. Sorry if you were sitting near me and was disturbed you!

the destiny unbound bustout on 2/28 @ Nassau 788 shows

7.18.03–mango, first post hiatus…I think it was played in 2000 though
7.19.03–rocky top, first post-hiatus…ditto ^
12.30.03–first weigh since 8.2.98. First post-hiatus sand, shafty, and while my guitar gently weeps. All of these are the LAST versions played also!
12.31.03-first ever Iron Man
6.25.04–first post-hiatus versions of glide and roses

my fav is the daniel from 7.29, along with everything else they played that night (cool it down, harpua, etc.). i loved that show

For my nuerosis, these were '99, but nice nonetheless

Apology accepted. Damn bulls fans always talking. I loved hearing High Time though, didn’t you?

I know it was played a couple weeks earlier but the ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’ from 2000-07-15 was one that comes to mind for me. After a long (probably 25 minute) DWD this song appears and the crowd just goes nuts. I don’t mean there is a big roar at the beginning, I mean throughout the entire song everyone is going nuts. This was such a good set until Have Mercy was stopped and Trey started Bug…you bastard!

Another one that comes to mind that was probably already mentioned was ‘Curtain With’ from 2000-07-12. I always wanted to hear the ‘With’ portion of this song and was lucky enough to hear the first one in over 1,000 shows!

^ the “with” is a good one booz…holding off the jealousy over here.

not sure if i ever saw really any bust-outs. does “loving cup” opener (1 of only 2 ever i think??) at deer creek '04 count? roses at alpine '04, hadn’t been played post-hiatus, had it??

^^i used to have similar feelings towards Bug, but I love it now…and that has been debated elsewhere so nevermind…

^^^I was gonna mention On Your Way Down from Camden 03 in this thread…I’ve mentioned it multiple times elsewhere…but I had no idea what this song was until I downloaded a Phish version during Napster-mania my freshman year in college (99)…and I always thought to myself, man that would be such a treat if I could hear Phish play that live, but they’ll probably never play it again…and then there was Camden…oh the chills I fel that night and still get a little right now just typing about it…I was one of the only people around me at the show who was singin the words…but I looked around and you could tell the kidz who knew what was goin down…pun not intended…god i love that song…

^ LOVE that song, little feat fuckin’ rock!!! get some of their old shows, there’s a real good one on nugs.net from '73 i believe. either way, unbelievable song-writers, and i love page singing on that one.

^too right! i’ve got a few older shows of theirs, and i love them all…but they’re still rockin it out man. i saw them 3 times in the UK a couple years back. they did some great dead tunes n teases as well (in fact on one of the older shows i have of theirs i think they were opening for GD).

^ they just have that raw energy you don’t hear a lot.

/hijack
