I was up on Columbus Avenue by 84th street in the Upper West Side of Manhattan having pizza with a friend. Suddenly I see Trey walk by outside! Whoa! I reel back a second, then put down my pizza run outside and call out “Trey!!!”. I think he was with his wife or something, I’m not sure. He turns around. And I say “Hi! What’s up!” He smiles, then I go back and finishing enjoying my pizza.
It was a fun random moment! However the first time I met Trey was much cooler. I told you guys somewhere else on this board about it once. But it was way classier. At least the above story isn’t as embarassing as my Christian Slater story (but its a good one).
But in September 2006 was my first encounter with Trey. I was a little tipsy walking down the street with my friends. We were heading to the bodega to pick up cheap beers to drink before going to see my friend’s band play over at The Blaggard Pub on 38th. We were right at 42nd Street and Fifth Ave, when I spot a red head coming down the street. “That looks like Trey!”, I say drunkenly, obviously not even expecting it to be him. But lo and behold, it’s him! He stopped and talked to us, he was with his 2 daughters out for ice cream. Fashion week was going on in Bryant Park nearby, and he asked us what we were up to that night, (we were seeing the Breakfast further south after seeing my friend’s band, Igor’s egg) and then he asked if we were around for fashion week, and I say “No! Are you.”
Anyway I didn’t even think to get a picture or an autograph, because that moment would already be ingrained in my memory forever. And that is also how I felt about today’s encounter. Although it was short and sweet, it made my day! I’m still thinking about it and smiling my face off!
