If Shapiro keeps this up...

What would you want the next '95 release to be. Pick your top 3 shows from Fall or Summer '95 that haven’t been released yet.

I’ll start:

  1. 12/15/95 - Just look at the setlist. The recording that circulates kind of blows and just look at this. First set Segue-fest plus a Suspicious Minds in the middle of all of this. Bathtub Gin with rotation jam. All around this is one of those shows where you can just tell the boys were having an amazing time and giving the phans what they want.

12-15-95 Corestates Spectrum, Philadelphia, PA

1: Chalk Dust Torture-> Harry Hood-> Wilson-> Maze-> Ha Ha Ha-> Suspicous Minds, Cars Trucks Buses, Bouncing Around the Room, Free-> Possum

2: Tweezer Reprise-> Runaway Jim, It’s Ice-> Bathtub Gin*-> Also Sprach Zarathustra-> David Bowie, Sweet Adeline

E: Good Times Bad Times

*With instrument switching (Fish - keyboards, Trey - drums, Mike - guitar, and Page - bass).

  1. 10/17/95 - Not very damn likely, but it would make many a head’s face melt. The whole second half of the second set is just one long improvisational jam with Medeski Martin and Wood. I think the recording that circulates might be decent, but I want perfection when it comes to this show. The first set it typical '95 fare, but the AC/DC Bag > Maze definately smokes.

  2. 5/16/95 - I know that the recording that circulates is actually pretty good, but this show deserves nothing but the best. The most debuts ever played in one show, the Reba to end all Reba’s and a one off performance of I’ll Come Running and Gloria. The only reason this show isn’t my #1 is the length, but it makes up for it in substance.

10-14-95

great idea for a thread goldenroad! and those are some great picks! i totally agree w/ 12-15-95, and i wouldn’t be surprised if it’s up next. from top to bottom that show smokes! 12-5-95 would also be great for personal reasons…i had quite the experiense that night. plus it’s a great show! 12-9-95 and 12-11-95 for obvious reasons. really all of december is worthy imo. oh yeah and 12-29-95 would also be sick!

for a show w/ no video footage available, 6-26-95 would be my #1 choice.

There are some summer shows that pique my interest.

6-17-95 and 6-23-95 look pretty good. 6-26 also.

1995 is not really a year I listen to much of. At all. But I wouldn’t be opposed to hearing a nice SBD recording of a hot show.

Give us Cypress, Shapiro…

It about time.

1995-12-09
1995-12-29
and…
1997-12-06

Sorry, I just won’t drop it. I’m stubborn!

i’m convinced we won’t see cypress until the 10 year anniversary. my only wish is that they release the entire thing. all in good time…

Does anyone else know if any other band has an element (ala “Cypress”) of such mythical status as Phish does? I mean, you say “Cypress” to ANY Phish fan and they can tell you 101 things about it. Does the GD? I guess this is geared mainly towards bands that tour quite a bit or have an extensive catalog of releases. I dunno. Just a thought that jumped into my head.

backs out of thread slowly

dead in egypt maybe? pink floyd at pompei?

ah, can’t think of any others right now

maybe the acid tests that the dead were involved with

The first one I immediately thought of was GD+Egypt, too.

But if I remember correctly, I remember reading JG saying the Dead didn’t even play well when they were there (I think the night of the full moon or eclipse or whatever). What about some bands that REALLY tour heavily, like Springsteen, U2, DMB, etc?

Springsteen’s was day 43 of a 72 night run at the meadowlands in 89! 44 minute Rosalita man!

5 posts is all it took. Anyone like any other '95 shows?

5/16/95
6/14/95
12/8/95
12/9/95
10/17/95 (probably only the MMW section)

agreed on all points. (would have an accident if given any)

A 12/15/95 release would be killer!

Anything from summer '95, really.

garcia is generally quoted as saying the dead blew ALL the big ones. egypt and woodstock included.

I thought Lesh said that.

I’m pretty sure it was Garcia.

From what I remember in “A Long Strange Trip” by McNally.

he said it on letterman 9-18-87. now please tell me what this has to do with the next livephish release?
