So I don’t know if Neck filled you in or not, but my absence wasn’t “about” anything. I just didn’t feel like posting. It wasn’t intentional. A few weeks ago, someone quit out of the blue, and that same week the other head meat cutter got mono. So I worked about 13 days straight and put in a 50 and then a 40 hour week. I didn’t have much energy or drive to post; instead I was drinking too much and watching TV.
At the same time, I’ve been going through a period of deep Phish apathy. I haven’t listened to Phish in probably a month because I recently started on the Bit Torrent path and have been discovering so many other bands/albums. Mostly, though, I think it’s just that since Phish aren’t touring or putting out new material, it’s becoming difficult for me to maintain the same level of posting and obsessiveness. New releases like the recent Murat show are too infrequent, in my opinion, and it’s a show I’ve already heard before.
As for what else I’ve been up to…not much. The Steely Dan show at the Toledo Zoo was excellent. It certainly is nice to be able to share a concert experience with my Dad, even if scattered rain showers suck when all you’ve got is a hooded sweatshirt. July 12th I’m going to see Bob Dylan at the same place, and then the very next day I’m going to Chicago for the Pitchfork Music Festival for all three days. Sadly my friend who lives there didn’t buy tickets in time to get in to Friday’s shows, so I’ll be going alone that night. Which frankly worries me because I’ve never gone to a concert alone before, not to mention I don’t have a clue how to get around in a big city on my own.
Anyway, I’ll be posting again now.
