I have incredibly good drunk news. Who else to tell at the moment besides the great OKP kids? Either way, you all must understand the massive grin on my face. Well, I drank some PBR Tallboys (yeah yeah, I know it’s a Thursday night, shutup!), and I was called. It wasn’t a normal call. It was a great call! Anyways, here’s the story…
I met this girl at Allgood fest (we were camped next to each other on top of an overlook) and we ran into each other and automatically clicked. She ditched her crew the whole weekend to hang out with me and my bud, because we were “on her level”. We stayed together the whole weekend, and she ended up riding to Knoxville with us. She lived in Charlotte at the time, so we took her to Asheville to find a ride after she stayed with us for a week. Later that month, she came back to Asheville for the Bele Chere Festival and I ran into her there. I got her to come back to Knoxville again and drove her back to Charlotte after she stayed for another few days. I stayed in Charlotte with her for a week, and I helped her pack and fix up her place so she could move back to her hometown in NH.
Over this whole time we grew very close. (I know I know, only a month, right?) But we have SOOOO much in common. Even down to the same age and astrological sign. (we’re both leos, if that means anything at all). We can talk and talk and talk for hours and not even realize that that much time has gone by. And get this, she looooooooves Phish…almost as much as I do. And other bands that I love too… Either way, we are very compatible, and she is the coolest girl I’ve ever hung out with. And she thinks highly of me too. So highly, that she called and told me that she and her cousin are moving down here after Christmastime! All because they are both kind of lost and looking for something different, and that she had such a good time with me and my kids here in Knoxville. She feels like she belongs down here. It’s also cheap to live and there are good schools down here. All great reasons.
But either way, this may work out for me, and I’m very excited. You’re not always going to find the right person down the street or next door or any of that, you know? You gotta branch out. I also know, in the same manner, that long distance relationships are very hard and usually don’t work out. That was the only thing holding me back. Now, she will be down here. I guess I’ll just have to wait and see what happens, you know? I hope it works out, but no matter what happens, I’m gonna have a kickass friend to kick it with if we don’t hit it off the way I hope we do. I’ll let it out like I always do… WHHHOOOOOOHOOOOOO!
