I was just listening to “Blue Skies” from 2/26/03 today. So that’s a maybe.
Every Beatles album from Rubber Soul to Let It Be are in my top 50.
And the all-time greatest album of any band in any genra, EVER, is Abbey Road. Period.
i’m a fucking barney, I don’t even own that album, but I don’t doubt the talent of the Beatles, as just in the last couple a years, I have really come to appreciate their music and talent. The only Beatles album I own is the White Album.
The White Album is probably near the bottom of my list favorite Beatles albums. Not to say it’s not a great album, because it is, I just happen to like just about every other album they put out (maybe not Let It Be) better.
Yes.

What a fucking cool album cover, too. John looking right at ya…

of course it’s in my top 100, silly. it’s in my top 10. the older i get, the more i appreciate their absolute genius.
Who are the blokes that voted no?
Show yer faces!
i voted no, though i am uncertain (there was no choice for uncertainty)…if i were to compile a list of my 100 favorite albums, i don’t know if Rubber Soul would make it…i’m obviously leaning toward the negative, but i really don’t know.
fuck, growing out your nails for finger picking makes it really difficult to tyhpe…
I voted no, but I like too much other music to include all the Beatles albums I like. Rubber Soul is good but to me it’s a ‘tip of the iceberg’ sort of album: it’s good on its own but it hints at the greatness to come. Sorta how I feel about Radiohead’s The Bends and Can’s Monster Movie.
its not even in my top 10,000 albums
To anyone who votes no: I’d like to see a list posted of 100 albums that you have listened to and enjoy more than Rubber Soul.
that’s a significant endeavor that i have no interest in undertaking.
Is it?
it is! i swear!
I love it. Its in my top 10, its my email address.
absolutely.
half the album is the best songs you’ve ever heard.
but Abbey Road, Sgt Pepper and Let It Be are my favorite Beatles albums followed by let’s say…the White Album, Revolver, Rubber Soul and A Hard Day’s Night (that’s right).
and its so crazy that this is the first thread i see upon my first login in 5 days. I haven’t heard this album in months until my friend put it on in the car today while we were driving back from Tallahassee.
now i’m freaked out.
I could put together such a list, but what would be the point?? Would you go through my list and try to argue that I was wrong??
It’s personal opinion, maaaaaan. I love the Beatles but that doesn’t mean all of their albums are in my top 100 albums.
I just want to see which albums you have ahead of Rubber Soul.
You know, so I could like voice my opinion and stuff.
Hmm…I don’t have a clue what would end up in my Top 100 albums but when I do think of the list, Rubber Soul doesn’t really pop in my brain first. I tend to like the Beatles more as the whole of their collective work, rather than individual albums blowing me away. I mean I like many of the songs on there but as an album? Hard to say. I mean, I’d put many many Floyd albums above it…same with almost every Moody Blues album, many Phish albums, many Dylan albums, many Stones albums, every Doors album, every Zeppelin album, etc. By Beatles standards I think Sgt Pepper, Revolver, White Album, Abbey Road and Let It Be are all better Beatles albums that I would rank above it.
So, no, it probably wouldn’t end up on my list. But in the end, I’d have to make the list since maybe I’d run out of albums and just throw it into the end to even out 100 which isn’t exactly a glowing recommendation. I mean, 100 is a lot of albums…
