It is time to party! Wakarusa style!

Where is the 'Roo thread? I will sticky it up.

It deserves to up there for those want it, even though me and teh’Roo don’t get along anymore.

I should be on the Wakarusa site around 11 am on Thursday morning. I want to camp by the lake as far away from the main site as possible…like CAMP MOONBEAM or ORBITAL. That means a bit of walking from the shows but a bit more swimming and Lakeside shennannigans. What do YOU think, Will. You’ve been there before.

I actually never made it to that part of the grounds. I believe (quote believe) that MOONBEAM and ORBITAL and that area is the Family Camping area. So if you bringing the whole group with ya Vern, that could be a good idea. The Waka party didn’t stop until 6 AM last year.

I was camped in Camp EQUINOX, right on 4th Street. I thought it was a great spot. About a 5 minute walk down the ‘Shakedown St.’ to the Campground Stages. About a 5 minute walk the other way on SD St. to the showers (the waterdrop on 2nd Street).

It was about a 15 minute walk to the main area from EQUINOX. The Wakarusa Way between the General Store and the Festival Grounds is the big down and up hill. It is a road that gets used by the shuttles, so we were all ushered off to one side of the road, which got a bit crowded at times (and a little difficult to walk on while on certain… substances).

But anyways, I see Fat Tire is the sponser again this year… I miss that taste so much. Vern, first one is on me!

Look on the map. The family spots are north of the lake and actually NOT mapped just arrowed. I don’t want to camp with the families because they tend to retire early. I’m coming alone so I want to be where the party is! AND by the lake…

Equinox looks good though! I like being a bit remote!!!

Second beer is on me, Will. Say…can we bring our own canned beer in? I know glass bottles are prohibited but it says NOTHING in the rules about alcohol!

This is the coolest part. We can bring whatever we want in to the Campground Stages. That was HUGE! I didn’t drink heavily, but enjoyed a beer from time to time, and being able to bring my own in there, I occasionally skipped the main area just that feature.

The main area is different though. The first day they went through a phaze of checking everything upon arrival. You could bring in sealed water, or an empty container. Kind of a wait to get in which sucked after the 15 minute walk. Second day, anything went. As long as you were not being blatant about it. We would throw some drinks under a blanket in a bag or something… Never had a problem. I heard the security say a few times while checking, “OK, you look good, you don’t look sketchy, OK, I see water, probably some beers in there… Who knows what else”…

It was an AWESOME security staff. Just some local college age guys and gals. Everyone there realizes (atleast through my eyes) that we are all their to have fun. As long as we were not out of our mind and being stupid, they did not care really.

Man… I can not wait to go back… I remember leaving the Galactic show from the main stage last year on Sunday night… Looking at the giant WAKRUSA in Christmas lights, and almost shedding a tear because I already missed the place!

Oh, and bring BUG SPRAY/CHIGGER PROTECTION!

Chiggers are teh nuisance. It wasn’t bad for me at all last year, but two of my buddies we camped with had some chiggers burying under their skin. Irritating!

Although, this precaution should be on everyone’s festival check list anyways…

the weird thing about roo was the utter lack of bugs. but the nonstop rain kinda sucked. I never rains in kansas right?

Definitely no bugs at 'Roo, but TONS of those almost transparent green grosshopper looking things. I have collected many a mummified one of those in the back of my car… Always fun to clean out.

I’ll be bringing tons of canned Heineken, Will. You can drink some of mine if you like. I also plan on brining a lot of bottled water. And of course, DEET bugspray.

You bring the dank???

Sounds like a fine plan.

I won’t bring the dank, I will bring Teh Dank.

YES! We need to co-ordinate our paths, Will…

that looks pretty awesome…went to the roo last year and had a blast…you guys would lean towards waka though b/c i was thinking the roo again but who knows

Come to Waka cubbie!!! Feel the VIBES!!! Feel breezy with us for four days…

Teh Will’s Waka Ticket = Teh Bought!

See you in June Vern!

Let’s coordinate before we make the trip so we can meet up.

Definitely. You should venture on over to the Waka board, definitely some cool people there. I met up with a few last year. It was the first board I ever posted on, and I found the OKP like a month later… Oh such good times.

Anyways, we will definitely have to make some plans, I’m really looking forward to hanging out with the past drummer of Teh Toadies! I seriously can not wait for June.

Pre Sale Tickets already sold out. In three days!

HOTCHA!!!

Teh place shall be BOOMIN’!

Man, I really want to go to this…the lineup looks great, the size of it all sounds a bit more chilled out than Roo…I love Roo, but I’m feelin everyone’s points about it getting to be too big…last year at Roo they searched every f-ing car hard core, and (this is genius) put all the glass they found on the ground in between car lanes so that cars kept running over the bottles and kids would hop out and run around barefoot in the same area…i mean, they’ve always had a ‘no glass’ policy, but that’s a retarded way to start enforcing it…makes you wonder what they may start enforcing next…

…anyway my cuz’s wedding is the weekend after roo…so if i went to waka i might as well go to roo too, but that = no more vacation time for me (prolly won’t need any more vacation time this year anyway…right?)

man i wish i could do it all…Wakarusa sounds pretty damn sweet
