dudes…the coffee was delicious!
seriously, i did have some coffee in abraxas that had hash in it. very tasty. but the “coffee” was flowing all week long.
highlights include:
Grey Area - Grey Diesel
(Grey Haze was good too)
Rookies - Rookies Blend
Damkring - AK47 & Kush
Blues Brothers - Eidelweiss
Don’t know (someone else in my group bought it) - Juicy Fruit
Other coffee shops I recall making it to this year: Noon, Greenhouse, Katsu, [color=limegreen]Easy Times*, Global Chillage, The Dolphins, 420 Cafe…i really should be able to list more…

- I really love Easy Times. It’s nice inside, friendly staff, always has a free table (but you’re never the only one there). Not to mention the buds are pretty cheap yet still good quality and they serve alcohol as well (cheap pints).
I had a fucking blast man, what a great city. Even when it’s cold and windy you can easily make it all around a town when there’s a bar or a coffeeshop around every corner.
Still didn’t manage to make it to any museums, which is pretty criminal having been there for like 7 days in total, and for the 3rd time…but stayin up late and partyin down to great music with like-minded people was why I went anyway, and that’s what I did. It was cool getting to hang with my brother for an extended period because that’s pretty rare these days. And of course meeting new heads in strange places is always fantastic.
I met up with Brad (tube#47 himself) at 4:20 at Rookies the first day of the fest and didn’t manage to see him again until he somehow finds me hangin out after the umphreys show in hamburg. We had a nice little american posse rolling around town a while before winding up in a cool bar, and eventually Brad and Mal (his gf), me, my bro, two other kids from philly and a couple kids from CO all went back to hang in our hotel room after that tour-closing umphreys show in hamburg (my bro is in the forsberg jersey, with [clockwise] brad, mal, darryl, sandy, andy, and marcus):

well, i could go on all night about the trip (and the tripping…). OK, I’ll mention the mushrooms. Perhaps Ive done them too often now, but I was weary of trying hawaiins again after barely being able to stand at last year’s opening keller show…but Ben convinced me, if we’re going to do them (which we were) then we’re both taking a full dose of hawaiins, and so we did on the second night and had such a blast (WAIT UNTIL YOU ARE ABLE TO HEAR THE MASSIVE-MIDLESS-DRIBBLE-WICH!..STS9 blew me away with the closing set as well) that we did the same for the third night. I wish I had some crazy tripping stories for y’all, but it was mainly dancing my ass off and hearing great music. Actually one thing did kinda freak me out…when we got back to the hotel the second night (on the FOURTH floor, and up these stairs[still another flight after the picture was taken]:
) after tripping balls all night, my bro somehow managed to pass out within 20 minutes, but i was up trippin, smokin and watching some late-late night dutch tele…so i found this channel where there was a still picture of train tracks entering a tunnel (a bit curious to see such a still picture on tv in amsterdam at 4:lets-say-20-ish in the morning, i wondered whether i was actually seeing this or if too much blood had run to/from my head after climbing those stairs). So i watch this channel for what seems like a minute and finally there is movement. Not within or across the picture, but movement along the track…like a camera was mounted on the nose of a train that was on those tracks the whole time but stood motionless until now. Anyway I cannot begin to describe the scenery this train proceeded to move through, but it went from luscious to arid and crazy to calm, and through PLENTY more tunnels. I really don’t even know if I was awake for this or not, but I was on the strongest mushrooms available, that’s for sure
ok, i’m definitely not telling these stories in order, so i’ll just tell the rest visually:

‘bumpy’ bridge near Grey Area and Abraxas

view from irish bar between museums and casino (on only sunny day)

the view out of my hotel window

the opening ‘day’ of madness

chillin wit wuhnah’teh dawgs

drive by shot of a fair (dom) in hamburg near the venue

absynthe bar we hit on our final night (a bit pricey, but still worth it at 10 euro a drink [although no green fairies were seen])

one of many night-time canal shots
…oh yeah…uh, the music:

The Bays (please listen to em peeps)

duo w/ manger

Umph!

BISCO!
Well, I guess that’s enough sharing for one post. What a friggin blast…i would recommend it to anyone. Even if I’m back in the states next year I’m pretty sure I’ll go if there’s a third one.
Unfortunately I think I beat Brad back home (i.e. ha and Mal are lucky enough to be out and about in europe for a bit longer i think), but I look forward to his stories when he gets back.
