Jam in the Dam '07 - Announcement 9/5/06

^naw dude, I stayed at the Quentin Enlgland by the Vondelpark…but they all have staricases like that and that view could be from anywhere too.

that larger hotel room is in hamberg (hotel budapester hof)

edit - oh and i checked out that winston art hotel…looks cheap and scandalous!

shiiiiiiiiiit!!! just got back yesterday at 4:30pm. a couple good stories to tell, one that includes us ALMOST missing our flight back to the states from amsterdam…our 2 hour layover ended up to be just a bit short to catch the train into town and back for a smoke before we left…i’ll tell that in a minute…

back at work, haven’t done ANYTHING all day…it’s tough. i’ll be back on here in a bit, gotta get something done for a couple hours at least…

great to meet ya Dan, amsterdam was just mayhem for 6 days, and hanging out in hamburg was a blast too! pretty funny that’s the only other time i saw ya. good times!!! i’ll get some pics on here tonight or tomorrow too…

^^very stoked for more pic’s and stories…Dam Brad I should of went…DAM!!!

^ next year!! Mal and I are definately going…

man, the hours are catching up to me, time to crash.

We will be in touch soon… Cannot wait to hear some great DAM stories!! Sleep!!!

well, this just in…

apparently someone else was snapping some pix of this jitd thing for some website called jambase and caught yours truly in the backgroud whilst tripping ballzes:

My Bro noticed it…I actually looked at all jambase’s pictures and had no clue until he pointed it out…I was distracted by (you guessed it) the chicks in the front row (i’m in the green hat in the back [edit] and NO that is not my limp wrist by my chin, but rather the hat brim of the dude in front of me [/edit]).

btw, there’s a bunch of other great photos on there too:

OK, this JUST just in…if any of you guys are in these cities (i know a LOT of you live in these towns…) and want to have a sarahsmiles/phunkyrobot kinda party in order to get a free jitd dvd, then read the following email i just got last night:

Hey everyone,

Thank you for your patience as we have been spending the last few weeks building a HUGE team across the country to help get the word out about this film. Now is the time to get moving on everything.

I have sent some of you postcards and more are on the way for people who dont have them yet. Please pass them out at Particle, Umphreys, Disco Biscuits and Keller shows and any other like-minded jammy shows in your area.

Also we are looking for people to host DVD PARTIES in these cities: Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Minneapolis, NYC, Philadelphia, Boulder/Denver, Asheville, Atlanta, and Austin . If you feel like you can bring 25-50 friends over to your house to watch the movie, and give out flyers to all those friends and take pictures from your party and email them back…I will send you a free DVD to keep. Please get back to me ASAP about this if you are in any of those major cities.

And I will have an additional 15 copies of the DVD available for the hardest working people who can post the news below the most on the internet, send to the most myspace/tribe friends, hit the most messageboards(phantasytour, phishhook, rec.music groups, yahoogroups, etc) and report back to me with a detailed report of what you did. Also please report where you passed out your handbills.

Please use this text when you post around…

JAM IN THE DAM THE MOVIE - RELEASED APRIL 4TH

“This film is the first time capsule of the jam music scene, much like
the Woodstock film was a time capsule of the counter-culture scene.
This 2 DVD set contains over 3 hours of music from the scene’s premier
bands”.

Umphrey’s McGee, Keller Williams, The Disco Biscuits and Particle have
all been captured at the first annual “Jam In the 'Dam” from the
legendary Melkweg in Amsterdam, Holland in March of 2005. Each band is
featured with 35 to over 50 minutes of live music.

This is the last video documentation of both Particle and The Disco
Biscuits before both bands changed their rosters. Most notably, this
is more than just a live concert video. This is a film with a story.
It features a highly interactive DVD menu with over 40 minutes of
intimate interviews in unique settings. All four bands discuss their
philosophies on music, their scene and their observations on visiting
the great city of Amsterdam. There are also 2 bonus slideshows and a
special coffeeshop featurette. This DVD will appeal to jam band
aficionados and mainstream music lovers alike."

ps - i watched the ‘world premiere’ of the dvd at the melkweg and it’s friggin amazing (especially what they’ve done with the keller performances…wow)

i already bought my copy and plan on having a nice session watching the whole thing this weekend

if you guys are interested just email Erik (and maybe mention you heard about it through my post ;)).

I am very interested and live in MPLS… We should hook this shit up Brad…YES!!! I have to bail to work, but I’ll explore it more later today! Thank you JamPhanDan!!!

^ yeah man, i’m down with puttin’ something on here in Mpls.

^^^^that one guy in that picture behind the chicks in the front row looks like robert deniro

I’ll buy that.

^i can buy that too…esp in/around the eyes

yeah MPLS dudes, you should get in touch with Erik and get that shit set up. Sounds like a good deal…organize (and attend) a kick ass party, then get a free dvd…can’t go wrong!

and for anyone interested, all the sts9 shows are available in both AUD (free, from da llama [archive.org]) and SBD (money, from http://sts9music.com/store/musicStore/index.jsp).

Haven’t seen any others yet, but eagerly awaiting them…

Brad, I hope you’re resting up for some storytelling

^ ah man, it’s been a ROUGH week here for me. i’ve been sick as a dog since flying back monday (8 hours of circulated air on a plane with a couple hundred strangers after my immune system has been attacked for 11 days isn’t good) and have had work every day then band rehearsal each night since…

needless to say my freetime has been literally non-existent. the only time i can get on here while at work, and then it’s somewhat minimal cuz i’ve been trying to catch up all week. i haven’t even unpacked.

so yeah, resting up is what i’m doin. ;D

by the way dan, it looks like you’re in some deep thought in that pic. you’re not sure where you are!

robert deniro is 75 percent irish.

dan, saw you had a video up on YouTube from JitD, and there were a couple others too. you can see me and my girlfriend up front for the JaJunk one, pretty cool to see that. do you have anymore vids from JitD???

found a photo from the same spot i was talking about. umphrey’s night 3, you can see my girl right on the edge of the stage in front of Jake, she’s in the round-fuzzy hat, i’m right behind her with my overalls on.

^Incredible… Very well done…

Jam in teh Dam 07’ here I come…

^ DO IT!! although with all this phish reunion talk and such…saving money for multiple possibilities will be a must. after going this year, it’s gonna be tough not going to amsterdam for round 2…there’s NOTHING like it.

^indeed…

living in england it was a no brainer for me to go to the first 2 years, but even if i’m back in the states next spring (which is likely) it’ll be tough not to go again…it’s a fucking great time. period.

and Brad, I’ll try to get some more of my vids from this year up on youtube…i’m falling behind on my posting/sharing here but i promise i’ll get around to it…sweet pic up there tho and good work making your way to the front (i’d spot your girl’s hat a mile away!).
