hey im thinking about it…
coolness,
im still trying to figure it all out with some friends
so far the summer concert season is looking like: Amfibian this weekend, Jam on the River with Sunday late night performance by bisco @ Efactory, Page @ World Cafe Live in June, and ABB/Keller/Ratdog @ Tweeter in Aug
we’ll see what else is to come, but im getting that summer concert bug
damn i was gonna start a thread but never got around…
THIS IS A GREAT FESTIVAL!!!
i went last year and it was a blast with bisco, the duo, the new deal for the one day i went…
the lineup looks pretty good, penns landing is a cool place and theres a shit ton of capt. morgan, as he is sponsoring it
mmmmm sts9, i wanna goooo!!!
you should come again
i didn’t go last year, forget why but i had a previous engagement of some sort
I’m there
nice
got my 2 day pass today… yea baby!!!
tickets- check
money- not a problem
transportation- shit
it’ll work out
i’ll be there, I didn’t get the sts9 late night or bisco late night, but no biggie, im gonna be dog tired after two days of philly fun, luckily monday is a holiday and thus my recovery day, yay for memeorial day, yay for music
yea i dont think any late night shows for moi either
anyone else?
the time is drawing near, anybody else from the NJ/PA/NY/DE region attending? It’s going to be a hoot!
I wish!!!
that stinks, ur not coming, boo
kk so just got home from philly from JotR day 2 and i must say it was pretty fun up till the STS9 rainout…LAMEEEEEEEEE
so i got in around 4, by my self, (my ride was my mom and sister. they spent the day in philly) and walked around the area which was teh exact same as last year… i walked into the stands and whatnot… it was cool and all and finally got some food (philly cheesesteak =D).
anyways i found a spot top left on the first set of stairs, its weird just a bunch of stone steps… but its cool view.
anyways i’m by myself so i chatted with the cool hippie lady next to me while the wailers were setting up… she was there with her boyfriend/husband i didnt really catch which one but they were cool. he left and came back with 3 beers for us (they knew i was underage but w/e it was a gift) so we talked more and the wailers came on. They were great… played 3 little birds and some other bob tunes and a few newer ones. so they finish up and john butler trio is settin up… then stacy hooked me up with her 21+ wrist band to get beer and used it to get a total of like 5 more beers (they’re fuckin expensive, thank god i’ve been saving up for a while) so now i’m having a good time… i smoked a couple more bowls during John butler trio which by the fuckin way WAS AMAZING. He prob was the highlight for me, he is such a rediculous guitar player… he played new stuff that i loved (get his new cd… top notch) and the older stuff zebra which was the first song i heard by him and i was very impressed with the stuff i was hearing
so the lady and her soulmate left and STS9 was up next… mucho fun
i made a run to one of the tents and bought a bubbler… its nice hits well.
got more beer and got back to my spot and began chattin with some dude (never got to kno his name) and just chatted bout bands, drugs, etc. i rolled up a fat joint for tribe but it wasnt staying lit so i opend it and packed a bowl and blazed that with a blunt with the dude and his friends… they went saturday nite too and were buggin out about the rain ( it was badddddd)
so tribe rocks a few song and on comes rain drops… everyone begins goin nuts at the drizzle but it turned badd and eventually the boys had to wind down a jam and run for cover leaving the hundreds of us scattering for the exits…
i was runnin in the rain drunk and high as hell and eventually spotted an unopend little ticket booth and stood inside… people were running by and eventually a guy named andrew came runnin in with some capt. morgan and introduced himself… we started jokin how no one is gettin out of the rain… eventually a few more people jammed in the booth and we chilled… i packed a bowl for everyone… it was really funny blazing out this ticket booth in the pooring rain. so they scatter and i call my mom to get a ride out of there. she was at dinner and i had to walk 4 blocks to get to the resterraunt which wasnt bad… ate a cheeseburger and passed the fuck out in the car ride home
what fun
^sounds like fun dude! and that sounds a lot like most show experiences for me…hoppin around the crowd and hangin out with cool strangers because most of the time i can never get my friends to come to shows with me! rock on, brah!
I was there day 1, which was off the hook.
Grimace Federation: Awesome
Apollo Sunshine: Terrible
Lotus: Frickin awesome - think five tall skinny white nerdy dudes playing video game-esque techno/trippy jams.
Bustle in your Hedgrow: I was so psyched to see that the Duo plus a guitar and bass were playing. Their first song was awesome, and I was really happy. And then the rest of the songs were zeppelin covers. Who knew they were a zeppelin cover band (I just didn’t recognize the first song). I mean, they played awesomely, but I wish I had known that before hand.
Cypress Hill - Awesome and hilarious. B Real just started smokin a joint. Eventually he grabbed a joint from someone in the audience and just smoked two at the same time. Sen Dog stage dived so many times on me and my friends up front it, it was hilarious.
Disco Biscuits - I was ready to hate them, but I loved them. They completely had the audience. Unfortunately, it started to torrentially rain and they had to stop after 20 minutes. The show was later canceled because of the rain.
Anyway, it was an great time.
god and his/her stupid rain…always fuckin it up.
“Bustle in Your Hedgerow” is a phrase in Stairway to Heaven.
“If there’s a bustle in your hedgerow
Don’t be alarmed now
It’s just a spring clean for the May Queen”
They’ve always been a Led Zeppelin cover band for the most part. which I think its awesome since I love them, I have yet to see BIYH though.
damn sorry sloth, this weekend has been crazy
i was at both days, got drenched day 1 during bisco, day 2 brought a poncho = me not soaked
basically me an my bud chilled outside the venue near the river listening to the music both days, then we went in for the last two bands, so on day one we came in during cypress and day two we came in during john butler trio. Sts9 was coolness, the db set was so hot with how they were playing off the lightning and thunder, it was damn shame they had to stop, it was going to be a blistering performance.
Ended up getting a ticket for the bisco late night show at the E factory, another buddy of mine ate too much L and wanted to sell his ticket so I was able to get the soldout ticket.
Bisco late night was a good time, but it was stellar and didn’t have that energy that there three songs the night prior had. Still a fun time, was up in the balcony actually forward enough to be infront of the main stack speakers, if i had been on the ground i would have been standing behind Barber (the guitar player) So I had a great vantage point to see how they communicate with one another and just some of the effects he uses. Cool time, think it’ll be awhile before i see TDB again. Im gonna try to see as many different new bands (to me at least)
Page next saturday, so it should be another fun weekend next week.
sorry i didn’t see the PM sloth, i feel bad b/c i meant to check this before i left yesterday, but i was running late and never turned the computer on. My bad on that one.
oh and see The Rumors thread for some… you guessed it… Rumors
yea other than rain this was a blast… will def look forward to next year
next year i’ll be there but i’ll prob not get a ticket, i’ll just listen to the music outside the venue, screw paying for what you can hear for free, now the late night shows at the e factory i’ll prob pay to go to, we’ll see
im much more excited to see the page show this saturday
