Hetfield Held Up for ‘Taliban’ Beard

(July 9) – Metallica’s Live Earth performance almost faded to black before it even happened, thanks to British airport officials who held their lead singer at a terminal because of his “Taliban-like beard.”

According to the British newspaper The Times, as reported by the New Zealand Herald, metal pioneer James Hetfield was held up and subjected to a line of questioning due to his facial hair following a tense week in the United Kingdom after foiled terror plots and an attack in Scotland.

The Times reports that airport security officials were embarrassed and let Hetfield go after he explained he was a member of the legendary rock band.

What a bunch of bull shit. Shouldn’t airport security know that a terrorist would shave his beard before doing something? It’s part of their religion, not like they’d ignore it.

They should have instead held him up on charges of churning out garbage since the early nineties.

** sorry, did I just bash a hugely successful & popular famous musical group without realizing that I know very little of this alleged “garbage”?

Still it would have made more sense than to detain him because of his beard.

Don’t be. I’m a hardcore Metallica fan and they just haven’t been the same since I’d say around the Load album. Some folks say they jumped the shark earlier but that album was pretty solid. Their new “Monster” album is an absolute abomination. They were like “I know we’re Metallica and people love us because our music was so unique, but let’s sound just like every crappy “metal” band out there for this album.” Wow, it’s bad.
