I’ve never been to a Jimmy Buffett show before. I like his music. It should be fun…something to see. And Alpine Valley is always a good time. I just hope I can billy goat around on the hill well enough. It’s pretty steep.

jimmy buffett is still alive?
Shhhhh, Ante…Jimmy Buffett is still alive. I’m not a huge Jimmy Buffett fan. He’s OK, but not my favorite. My girlfriend has seen a bunch of shows. My cousin and his wife and his friend and his wife have all seen him before. I went with all of them. Alpine Valley is always fun. We got there at 1:00 when the lots opened. Tons of people showed up early to hang-out. I looked at some of the recent setlists, and the song selection doesn’t seem to change too much. You’d think songs like Margaritaville and Come Monday should never be played. They did cover Scarlet Begonias. It was OK. Jimmy Buffett talked about coming to play Alpine Valley each year shortly after GD. So anyway, it was no Phish, but it was still fun.

both my parents listen to a TON of Jimmy Buffet all the time, even though they are split i’ve heard Jimmy Buffet consistenly my whole life. The again i DO live in South Florida, just like Jimmy himself, so i guess its expected.
there are some songs that get old but there are some that are really great. My favorites have always been “Pirate Looks At 40”, “Son Of A Son”, “Pencil Thin Mustache” so its cool that he plays those songs live still i guess.
i’ve never seen him though but i bet its really a fun time, even if you aren’t a fan.
Saw my first Buffett show last year at Wrigley, night 1. Had a great time!! I know that the tailgating was non-existant as it was at Wrigley, but that area was hoppin like crazy! It’s kinda funny to see 40-50- and even 60 year olds partying like it’s 1999!! I could only imagine how it was at Alpine!
He also played SB at Wrigley last year. I was totally hoping that he would have played Gumbo, as it was around the time New Orleans got destroyed, and he was wearing a New Orleans shirt, but alas, it was SB instead…
^ Wrigley Field sounds like a great time…a very cool place. I was thinking that I enjoyed the cover songs the most at the concert this past weekend. Werewolves of London, Southern Cross, and Scarlet Begonias. (Brown-Eyed Girl also, but I don’t like that one no matter who plays it. Same with Dancin in the Streets. All versions by anyone suck ass.) Jimmy Buffett mentioning the Grateful Dead before the cover was cool. It definitely appealed to a pothead who would rather listen to the Grateful Dead anyway.
I saw him last year at the Nisson Pavilion in VA, and it kicked ass. What a fun show. I wish I was catching him this year.
