In case there are any DC area Phish fans around…I read that John Kadlecik (Furthur, DSO) is debuting a new solo band in DC on Sunday April 11th which is featuring “originals, plus a bunch of JGB, Phish, and other covers”. It is at Bossa in the Adams Morgan section in DC at 2463 18th Street in DC. I saw this on Facebook and thought it could be interesting if he is going to play some Phish.
Hmmm…he is kinda why Further disappointed me so much. Maybe he should try some originals!
I have no idea who he is.
Wait…does harpua420= John Kadlecik? ![]()

^You may know him better as “Fake Jerry”.
^But, at least he’s a better fake Jerry than Bobby is. ![]()

And no I don’t know who fake jerry is either
Former Dark Star Orchestra guitarist, current Furthur guitarist.
And that would be why
I saw one Furthur show this summer and thought JK was one of the highlights. A lot of people bash him for playing covers and no originals, but he does it because he LOVES the music so much. And that’s something I can get on board with.
If I were in the DC area I would probably go see this.
I saw the Broomfield shows and they were amazing. I can’t imagine how anyone was disappointed. Was it the performance… the lack of new material? Or something else? I thought the band had great chemistry and the energy level was insanely high.
John was sitting practically right next to my girlfriend and I at the Syracuse show this past fall and he seemed to enjoy himself thouroughly ![]()
Well, I’ve said it a few times but I’ll say it again. I’ve got no problem with a Jerry impersonator singing and playing Jerry’s parts in a GD cover band… and that’s what Further is. Like I said, John is a whole lot better of a fake Jerry than Bobby. So, I don’t get the whole issue with Kadlecik? Yes, it’s weird and eerie sometimes, but, again… it’s a cover band. Isn’t the point to sound as much like the original as possible?
I mean, I get what some of you are saying… but it’s not like Bobby and Phil are out there writing a whole bunch of new material…
Pretty much…
I saw both Chicago shows last Tour and was amazed by JK’s playing…Im fully aware that Furthur is a cover band and I dont mind that one bit, …Its the closest I will get to the Dead at this point, I was 16 when Jerry left this Realm…
From what I hear, JK is a really nice guy who LOVES Music very much, I would love to here this little side project of his…
So… this happened, right?
Are there any recordings?
John is GREAT!
