John Lennon was shot 28 years ago today.
wow it’s been that long? i remember the day. i’m old.
well, happy anniversarry John Lennon’s Death.
^heh.
You know, if he were alive he’d be saying something like, “Stop asking me to write more songs with Paul & the Beatles; that’s overwith - I might be alive somehow, but George still isn’t, … and while you’re not asking me to write with Paul, you can stop writing fan mail to Ringo too.” Then he’d make out with 70-something Yoko, naked, on camera.
John Lennon’s death was like a signal that the 80s were gunna suck.
The boys did a tribute to John at a show i saw on this day in 1995. Come together and ADITL encore was niceee! Remember Love, Remember John Lennon!
Apparently PBS showed this tribute to the Beatles with these four dudes who tried to look exactly like them. The covers weren’t bad but what killed it was how absolutely ridiculous these guys looked with their long hair or whatever in an attempt to look just like the Beatles. Some of them didn’t look even close, especially the dude playing George. I saw one point where they played Imagine (not even a Beatles song) and the fake John Lennon was singing it and I just couldn’t take it.
I have no idea why I just typed that. If John Lennon was alive, seeing that would have killed him.
Stevo
has anyone seen that movie Chapter 27 about the death of John Lennon? I was flipping through the channels the other day and it was on but like an hour in, so I opted out.
Just curious to know if it’s worth the effort.
^
I was wondering that myself.
Jesus, Jared Leto is virtually unrecognizable as Chapman!
definitely one of the darkest days in rock n roll history.
but on the brighter side, today is also Gregg Allman’s birthday and would be Jim Morrison’s birthday as well.
So remember to mix in celebratory Allman Brothers and Doors songs with the bittersweet songs from Double Fantasy you’ll all be spinning today.
yeah, it looks like he put on like 80 pounds for the role.
^never heard of that movie but i just looked it up.
downloading the trailer now but looking over the credits i find it weird that Lennon was played by a guy named Mark Chapman
i caught the first hour or so of Chapter 27 the other day. it seemed pretty interesting.
that is weird, I wonder if it was intentional.
I’m pretty sure you never actually see Lennon’s face in the movie (except for historical footage of Lennon himself), so it could make sense that they just picked this guy for his name.
just watched the trailer.
looks pretty good. I really liked whatever documentary i saw about it years ago though. I think it was on VH1.

The other Chapman
tough break.
^heh.

Actually, he very seriously was wanting to get the Beatles back together, I think Yoko wouldn’t have it though, or at least kept feeding him crap about how it wouldn’t work. Fucking Yoko, always had him by the throat, he should have stayed with Mae Pang. She was hotter, younger, and he wasn’t doing dope the whole time they were together.
Anyway, may you continue to rest in peace, oh great one.
You ever see that picture inside of Magical Mystery Tour that is Lennon in front of that store?
Let’s see…here it is:

The best way to go is by M&D C…
This picture was only in the original vinyl version of MMT.
Do you think Lennon knew? Or did Chapman, that crazy fuck, see that as a sign?
^HEY!! That album cover is supposed to be full of McCartney’s death clues. Not Lennon’s! What gives, right?
