Least fave is Chalkdust Torture. It’s missing almost everything that makes it great live. And I hate Trey’s slowed down vocal…
I think the album has a problem with too many useless short instrumentals. Faht, Magilla, and Catapult I can tolerate, but the others serve no purpose in my view. Nectar could’ve easily been the finest album in human history if they were replaced with Strange Design, Harry Hood, or Gumbo.
I couldn’t live without The Landlady on Nectar.
[^Sounds like some apartment owner is stoned on oranges.]
My least favorite is Magenta.
Just kidding, what’s it called again? Manteca? Talk about a buzz-kill, that one. Right after Stash.
FWIW, this is my favorite Tweezer. The studio version. Amazing how differently music strikes folks sometimes!
Manteca’s the one with the “grabbin-my-shoo-mow” lyrics, right? yes, if there’s a least favorite track on the album, that’s it.
Crab in my shoe-mouth.
And yes.
And it is a cover.
had no idea. Saw the YT link from elsewhere and I have a new appreciation for the track.
I now have no least favorite track on Nectar. boy that’s a relief.
manteca is on an album?
what’s Manteca?
Is that man TEE Ka or man Tech A
I use tech.
This is my favorite Phish recording. As far as least favorite goes I am hard pressed to find one. This to me is the only Phish record that works as an album. on their other records you can play any one track and it works. WIth this record some of the tracks need to be heard in context of the other tracks. I can see why some people wouldn’t like that but they have to play something in between all those epic jams…For me the short instrumentals are what made Phish great…And I love Manteca. Maybe my favorite jam. It’s really not about what you hear on the record it’s more about the groove of the tune…Live it’s amazing.
