Least Favorite

“Dog Faced Boy”.

I never got into this song, always seemed out of place, interesting lyrics however.

If I Could

Demand

Man, the drum part in demand is so awesome…

If I could could have never been written, and it would be fine with me.

i know if i could isnt a favorite, but the most epic version that brought me to tears was the jam in 6.28.00 PNC. it hasnt been played since.

lifeboy. certainly.

Lifeboy’s lyrics are certainly ones not to overlook!

My vote for least favorite song on Hoist goes to “Dog Faced Boy.”

I have to go with If I Could. Horrible placement. Julius, DWD, then If i could. It would have been great to hear Julius, DWD, Riker’s, and AII all in a row. They should’ve left the song off the album, or put it before lifeboy.

this entire album is my least favorite by far. There was a huge shift in the bands focus on this album. Maybe Julius is okay, but the rest not great IMHO. Isn’t demand just a jam out of SOAM?

i actually dont “dislike” any one song enuff to say i dislike it, i love the whole album.
just like i love all of 2112 by rush, but not in the same way… possible a similar way…who knows which way it is…

Dog Faced Boy can be sooo depressing

ive never really been a fan of If i could

Dog faces boy is the shit!! Least favorite rikers mailbox

If I could is pretty weak

Lifeboy with Dog Faced Boy at a close second.

Not because they’re slow or anything; I just don’t think they’re great songs.

Actually I’ve warmed up to Lifeboy quite a bit; used to practically hate it.

I’ll probably never get over the shock of Hoist - the first Phish album with hardly any compositional meat to delve into. I got to the end of that album and went “That’s IT??” I’m partial to all those early albums for all the clever musical acrobatics and intense composed sections. Hoist represents, to me, a departure from much of what I love most about Phish.

I’m gonna have to go with Demand.

Being only my second exposure to the band, Hoist was an album that I really liked…until I heard Junta and realized what a departure it actually was!

i’m going to have to say that as an album, i don’t think Hoist is all too great. it’s a bridge between the amazing compositions of prior work and the beauty and depth of Billy, Ghost and Farmhouse (the Holy Trinity). it just feels kinda superficial and goofy.

but if i were to narrow it down to one song…mmmm…Lifeboy i guess.

Hoist seems like it was tailored toward MTV a bit. That being said it did produced DWD, Julius, Scent of a Mule

but also regrettably produced
If I could
Sample
Wolfman’s Brother

A decent Album and I’d take it over Billy Breathes, Farmhouse, or Ghost

^ Wait do you mean that you don’t like songs Sample and Wolfmans or just the album version

Hate Sample and Wolfman’s Brother.

Sample is just filler

and

Wolfman’s Brother is just one those songs I’ve never liked
