“We’d like for this to be over,Karen said”

WTF?! like what to be over?? selling merchandise like she does every other day of the week?! Terrible attitude IMO

Q4T

Haha, yeah I’m not sure exactly what that means… but, I assume there’s been a lot of confusion and possibly some accusations surrounding the fact that they’ve had tickets all along and have basically been sitting on them while their store was closed.

Plus, who knows how many non-locals have been calling them trying to get them to sell them the tix, which they can’t do because you have to prove county residency in order to get them.

But, yeah, you’d think they would be gone by now…

I still think its bullshit that they got tickets for the locals.

If they throw down epic shit with a specific intent to shut out the masses of fans who would trade a nut or an ovary to experience it, then I think I’ll throw out my Amazon 7 song Joy sampler in protest.

There is a very good chance any tickets that go unsold will then go to that Tickethorse company that sold tix to the public. If I were going I’d be checking that site every hour on the hour for the next 3 months.

the question is whether they will match the pairs back up into 2 passes or sell them as single day tix

Just curious, why do you think it’s bullshit? I think every time Phish plays anywhere there should be an allotment of tickets for the locals. Not everyone can afford to drive all over the country and pay a bunch of money for a bunch of tickets and so on. I don’t see the problem with giving locals a chance to get tickets to shows that are in their town.

Well you answered the question yourself.

The reason its bullshit is that they didn’t do it for other shows.
I didn’t get tickets put aside for the Chicago show.
I’m pretty sure the locals in San Fransisco didn’t get tickets put aside for the Greek?
Nor any other show this or any past tour.

I agree that locals should have a chance,…but if you do it for one, you should do it for all. No?

I think it is becuase of the venue. It’s not like anyone can come in and do two days in Telly.

The locals get their tix becuase their were holding all the cards. And i am sure many of them are looking at it like a payday via selling for over face.

I love the idea of putting aside tickets for the locals, but there’d need to be a way of making sure they were going to phans and not scalpers (of any kind…meaning those who just see it as an oppourtunity).

^Sure. But there has to be a larger field in Colorado that could accomodate all who want to go. Think John Wayne’s Ranch in Steamboat. That could hold everbody. Literally thousands of places. This has become silly. It’s perpetuating the holier than though perception that some people have of Phish fans. Then it’s stratifying the fans into the cans and cannots, and the lucky and unlucky. That made sense for Hampton I guess. If you are going to play in a field why not a big one? I’m not saying I don’t want to go anymore. Just where is the love?

I think it is because most Colorado people complain more than the rest of America combined.

I think withholding tickets for “locals” is a terrible idea - anytime, anywhere.

Why should you be entitled to go to a concert based solely on your ZIP code? Unless it’s literally in your own backyard, I don’t see the need for any special treatment.

the fact is the only people who can acquire these tickets at this time are locals with proper ID and proof of address or whatever.

I wonder what will happen to them if there aren’t any more locals who want tix…

I think they may have favored locals for Red Rocks last year as well. I had tons of people trying, and all the people who scored tickets for me were from Colorado. I don’t know it for a fact, but I get the impression that they favored local requests.

If I just fly in from San Fran all homeless but with a tent, I’m feeling a 60% chance of an entrance plus a blast, 25% chance of spending my midwest dough on not seeing the shows and having a room, and 15% chance of being tazed and incarcerated and having to orchestrate my legal defense through court appointed attorneys from Michigan. My guest-a-mation skills are excellent.

They held a total of 3000 tickets for locals right? (1500 for the first night, 1500 for the second) Did they really think there would be 1500 phans in town?

Yeah I see what you’re saying, but I think Telluride and the Greek should have been the ones where they did that really. I know they didn’t do it for the Greek, but I think they should have. The reason I think that is because for one, Western folks really don’t get many shows, so I think they should be given a fair chance to see the ones that they do get instead of just rich/lucky people. Secondly, I think it is fair that way because those are really small venues, and it would really suck to get shut out of a show in your hometown when shows are so rare to begin with. I know I would be pissed if I got shut out of a Birmingham or AVL show.

I think 1500 is a bit much, though. I think 500-700 would have been more realistic.
