LOST...Season 4 thread!!!

yep LOST fans, season 4 begins Thursday night.

I am pumped. Very, very pumped.

I haven’t watched any of the series on TV…its all been DVD watching for me, entire seasons at a time. That alone is going to be rough adjustment for me to make. I don’t know if I can handle only one episode a week.

Furthermore, I’m going to be on vacation for episodes 2 and 3 and I don’t know if I’ll be near a TV. I hope I can watch them online, but that always sounds easier than it really is to people who aren’t especially computer savvy.

So I just finished watching Season 3 in December because that’s when it was released on DVD. So everything is pretty fresh in my mind.

As you’ll remember, the last episode was pretty crazy. Locke throws a knife into the back of the parachuter girl with the GPS tracking device thingy, but Jack still manages to successfully make the distress call to a ship, despite Ben’s pleas to not do it “or else everyone on the island will die.”

On the previews I’ve seen the rescue, to whatever degree it actually happens, occurs early in Season 4. This is mainly what has me baffled. What are they going to do for the rest of the season, and seasons 5 and 6, if they are rescued so early on?? I expect there to be some major surprises in the first few episodes here pertaining to this issue. Obviously Locke is hell-bent on staying on the island since he thinks he so special, and then there’s the flash-forward in that last episode with drunken Jack wishing he would’ve never left the island.

I think this rescue crew the parachuter came from is for some reason trying to stop whatever the Others are doing on the island. I think Ben actually says that too. But I just have trouble deciding if Ben is really looking out for the ultimate good of his people or for himself, or if he is really evil. He certainly cares about what is going on on the island more than the value of anyones life.

The one thing that has really stuck in my mind, which wasn’t really answered in season 3, is the Libby/Hurley thing with her being in the same mental hospital as Hurley…god I just can’t forget that. But going into that issue is going to lead to theories on the entire show and the mysticism of that island…how everyone on the plane is connected in some way from before they got on the plane.

Even thinking about that makes my head spin.

… ;D god I fucking love this show.

hells yes!!!

i share your excitement brother!

i was just searching for the LOST thread yesterday and had a helluva time NOT finding it. (insert pun here)

anyway, i am pumped for the recap Wed. because it is NOT fresh in my mind, and i am so friggity-digitty pumped for the 2 hour premier on Thurs.

not so pumped about the prospect of only half a season due to the writer’s strike, but i’ll take any new lost i can get.

i hadn’t thought about lost for a while and then watching Dick Clark’s New Years Rockin Eve they showed like a 4 minute commercial/preview for this season right before the ball dropped that got me more excited than ever!!!

abc.com brah, very easy to watch full episodes with minimal commercial time. DVD is the best way to wacth the series. Waiting in between commercials is bad enough, let alone waiting a whole week for more. So pumped.

I hope it’s good, it feels like over a year since i’ve watched this show

if only south park would come back for another new season i’d be in tv heaven

Yeah, I’m pumped too but I also think it may be tough trying to remember all the little stuff. I only watched about half of last season since I lost interest mid-season (we always get the dull episodes then) but then I jumped back on and caught the final few of the season. The “Jack in the the future” twist at the end blew me away. Just a great way to end a season.

Frankly, them only having eight episodes due to the strike isn’t THAT different anyway. They’ve been giving us six or seven episodes at a time for the last few years anyway. There’s really no difference.

The one thing that bothered me was Locke throwing that knife into the parachute girl. We’ve been hearing for so long about how Locke’s a “good person” from the Others and I figured it was because he never killed anyway (he wouldn’t shoot that one undercover cop when he was on that pot farm) and he hasn’t killed anyone in the entire show. Yet then he just throws the knife out of nowhere. Seems a little weird. Frankly, I like Locke…

And thank God Charlie’s dead. Man, he was annoying.

Still, the show should be getting crazy now though I have no idea how they’ll make this thing stretch for three more seasons.

Also, I think i heard today that the “two hour event” is actually a one-hour recap show at 8 followed by the actual new show at 9. Anyone else hear this? (Though the recape shows are quite good).

Stevo

^dammit, i thought the recap was wed. with a two hour show on thurs…not sure

::checks abc message boards::

couldn’t find out about what’s happening thurdsday, ie whether it’s a 2hr episode or if 1 hour recap and 1 hour new episode…but yeah, the recaps are cool too.

man, there are some lost FREAKS over on Lost TV Forums

^holy crap I hadn’t heard about this!! I’m gonna be at work for that!! Fuck. Well you guys are gonna have to give me a recap of the new clues and stuff that they reveal.

two days away!!

and yeah I’ve been hearing things about how the writer’s strike may affect the show but I’ve just ignored them hoping it wouldn’t happen…haha. Is this for real?? Fuck they better start paying those writers well because I’m gonna spaz if the season only goes a few episodes.

^Actually, if you check Wikipedia after a show airs, there’s somebody who writes these long, comprehensive scene-by-scene descriptions of what happens on every show. I got up to speed with a lot of episodes that I missed by reading those things.

And, I checked TVguide.com at work today. It’s definitely only a one-hour episode at 9pm on Thursday. The 8pm show is a recap thing. The show they’re showing on Wednesday is a replay of the season finale last year.

Stevo

^yeah hopefully one of you can watch the last episode of season 3 tonight on TV and give a recap if anything new is shown, because I’m gonna have to miss it. Come to think of it, I might even miss the episode tomorrow…if my friends want to hit the road for vacation tomorrow morning or afternoon. It’s not really up to me, damn!

The wikipedia thing is cool, but I’d much rather watch the episodes, of course.

CURSES!!!

ah well, the recaps are cool too (and somewhat necessary)

All the links between the characters pre crash have been on my mind this year. These imparticular

Locke and Boone as a kid at the toy store
Locke and Nadia when she gets her house inspected
Said, Kate’s dad and the other military guy who was operating the Pearl when Des arrived
And the biggest is the old woman who told Des not to buy the ring.
Her photo was on the desk of the head monk when Des was asked to leave the abbey! These ?'s have been killin me.

And so the madness begins again.

and what about that chick with the eye patch? who the fuck is she?

so is this show on thursdays now? whats up with that

i kind of liked wednesdays, split up the week nicely

I never caught Boone as a kid at the toy store…is that for real?

Yeah that old woman thing is really fucked!! Wasn’t she present in the meeting room during the meeting the Others had on what to do with Julia after she betrayed them?? Maybe I’m wrong about that but I’m pretty sure we saw the same old lady on the island at some point in season 3. Like she was the boss of the Others, even higher than Ben, but below “Jacob” (whether Jacob is an actual person or just some kind of power or just a manipulation too the Others use)

This just all points to Desmond being an incredibly important character in the grand scheme of things…on the direction the island and the Others project is going and all that. because that old lady was going to make sure Des didn’t buy that ring and puss out on his marriage, so he’d take the trip around the world and end up on the island.

Spoiler Alert

Kate has a great ass!

^ kang-firmed!!!

btw the pop-up-video season 3 finale wasn’t all that earth shattering last night. i found it hard to pay attention to the words at the bottom, and there wasn’t all that much “new” information.

i think it said that the doctor who was supposed to operate on the person in the car accident was related to the dentist from the island…and at one point it mentioned the wizard of oz but i didn’t catch the first part. it was kind of toungue in cheek at times though…kind of like popupvideo

I may be the only person in America that hasn’t seen 5 minutes of this show.

I like the premise and all, but it didn’t pique my interest enough to watch from the beginning.

^I didn’t start watching til the middle of Season 2 then I read a bunch of synopsis online to catch up with season 1. I don’t think I ever start watching a show from the start since basically all new shows look totally stupid to me. And in most cases I’m right.

Plus I think I remember reading in an interview with the creators that all of the “connections” in the flashbacks and stuff really don’t have any bigger meaning other than that it kind of shows that these characters were connected even before they got on the island. There’s really no deeper meaning than that.

Sadly, I’ll be missing the ends of Lakers/Pistons and Wisconsin/Indiana to watch it tonight so it better be good. (Shakes fist)
