I’m all about Kate too…she’s the best. They’ve been trying to ham up the sexiness with Juliet too but her face just seems EEEEVIL…I can’t get with it. (By the way, she got nude in that Gigi or Gia film that Angelina Jolie did way back when. Hawt).
Don’t read ICC…spoiler spoiler. In fact don’t even read this entire post. I usually skip this thread altogether if I haven’t seen an episode.
Anyway, from Lostpedia, the date of the tombstone was the date of the crash…which implies that he certainly didn’t make it off the island…he’s going to die on the island somehow.
Also, one thing that seemed like a throwaway scene but probably wasn’t was Bernard talking about karma. I’ve felt that karma has always been a BIG part of the show and this was the first time they actually addressed it. Even the Others were looking for “good people” and didn’t care if they killed the “bad” folks. Even Ben once said that he didn’t try to kill Locke because he’s a “good person.” Of course, Bernard mentions that may have changed since Ben has now killed someone (he never killed anyone before). He also mentions how Jin could be a good guy after he catches the fish but we know from Jin’s past that he wasn’t the greatest guy even if he’s changed his ways. And then we find out he’s dead at the end so that means his bad karma may have been the end of him.
We even saw the island itself take matters into its own hands when (I think it was) the Island in form of Mr. Eko’s brother told Mr. Eko to seek forgiveness for his sins and Mr. Eko refused since he believed he was justified…and sure enough the Black Smoke (representing the island, I think) kills him. To me, a big part of the show is the good person-bad person thing and that often addresses people’s fate.
Overall, some of the episode was boring since the Jin/Sun stuff usually is but that was pretty evil of them to show Jin as a flashback but make us think it’s a flashforward. I should have known when Jin started saying “I’ll kill you” when that dude drove off the panda in the cab…it didn’t fit the current Jin but it did fit the old Jin.
As for Michael, there’s still questions. I think that Ben has somehow blackmailed Michael by either kidnapping Walt again or maybe threatening Walt’s life once they reached the mainland to make Michael get on that tanker. I think it’s the latter since there’s no way that Michael could have just sailed up to the tanker in his little boat and asked for a janitor job and had them completely trust him. He had to have been hired when the boat left the mainland so he could have been in the crew the whole time. Which means he DID make it to mainland but somehow Ben got him to go on that tanker.
This also shows how I think that we’ll never see Walt because, as we saw when he talked to Locke, in real life Walt is MUCH older and yet it’s only been a few months in the life of the show. Unless they find some other actor who kinda LOOKED like Walt, there’s no way they can bring Walt back in the real world (in the visions it’s okay since it’s just a vision and it don’t matter if he looks older).
Then there’s the issue with the false plane. It’s hard to say who you believe. Both Widmore, Dharma, and Ben have the resources to do it and both are basically accusing each other of stuff. It’s hard to say who to believe since both are pretty evil.
A friend of mine did suggest that the diary Widmore got from the Black Rock may have mentioned the Others who appear to have not aged. If it mentioned that, then maybe Widmore would be searching for a fountain of youth kind of thing.
Either way, the show is moving along well…it’s a shame there’s only like two or three new ones left. That’s gonna suck.

good thoughts, it was def a builder episode gets ya thinking
werd.
that or he’s hiding out somewhere to avoid being drawin back into the mob (which i admit is pretty unlikely - he’d still have found some way to see his kid being born)
exactly what i was thinking
there is definitely something goin on with time travel, alternate dimensions, time shifting, or something. it could be like when they’re fighting over that sports almanac from the future in Back to the Future II…
Ug…this Thursday could be difficult. With all the tournament games and the fact that I may be at a bar sloppy drunk when Lost starts means I could miss it. Not to mention that my VCR doesn’t record any shows once I switched to cable last year. Hmmmm…
Stevo
you can stream lost from many sites on the internet now-a-days
Yeah Sayid is definitely confused about who is evil and who is good, but thats the genious of the show!
I loved the return of Tom and Libby to the picture! Tom is so damn cool (even if now he is gay…what was the point of that??..gives new meaning to him saying to Kate “yer not my type.”), and the way Libby was thrown off the show way back in season 2 left me with so many questions.
Only a few more weeks until it all starts up again! I’ll admit I’m surprised that they’ll be getting back to the show so quickly. I missed the last episode of last season because of March Madness so hopefully I’ll get a rerun of it.
Of course they moved it back to 10pm…thanks for nothing, ABC. Heaven forbid that your Ally McBeal ripoff, Eli Stone, doesn’t get all the exposure it needs.
Stevo
i think eli stone is on a different night now or something
yeah next thursday it comes back on right?
nice, till then new SP tonight
Actually, I looked at the listing tonight and the reruns are on THIS week. Good thing I checked the listings. It looks like it’s actually the last TWO episodes in a row tonight so check them out if you missed one like me.
Stevo
thanks for the notice!
I finally saw the last episode last night. Interesting stuff and lots of classic cases of Michael being a spineless loser as always. I think that Carl dude is dead since he never provided crap to the show but I’ll bet Rousseau survives. Looks like a CRRAAAAZY episode next week.
Stevo
^Actually I was surprised they had new episodes coming up so quickly after the last ones. And be happy…almost every other show had NO new episodes last season…at least Lost fans got eight.
Stevo
Yeah I’m F’n pumped for Thursday fo sho
Whoa. Is it next week yet? Good stuff this week (except for some stormtrooper-like accuracy). So is Widmore immortal? And from when did Ben jump to arrive in Tunisia?
Icc- once you are caught up, it’s all downhill from there. Watching in real time is the worst way to do it. The ads happen too often and waiting a week for more has been likened to heroin withdrawal.
OMFG
I forgot about this episode from last night until I saw this thread, but I have no idea how I’d forget that. Most action-packed episode ever for sure.
all I can say for now is SMOKE MONSTER!!! Cripes that was cool.
nice one last night…
Alpert shows his face again.
creepy black guy is back in the plot.
crazy shit goin down in LOST town
^Yeah, definitely a VERY interesting episode. In fact this entire season has been pretty awesome with very few “dud” episodes.
First there’s the thing with Locke’s past. Obviously he was targeted since birth by the Others to do…uh…something. The part where Richard put all those items in from of young Locke was eerily similar to how they pick the Dalai Lama…they set the old Lama’s belongings in front of a kid who was born right as the Lama died and if he picks the right things that belonged to the old Lama they assume he’s the Lama reincarnated. Perhaps it’s the same for Locke…a reincarnated version of a leader of the Others? Plus they seemed to keep wanting to drive Locke toward science but he kept going towards adventure and such so they had to get him on that plane to get him on the island.
Even stranger, a co-worker mentioned that in the episode where it showed Ben being born and his mother dying, the people who helped Ben’s father was none other than that Horace guy and the teacher from the Dharma group who eventually hired Ben’s Dad. So maybe Ben was targeted too.
As for Claire, I wonder if she’s already dead. When we saw that Kate had Aaron in the future, I assumed Claire was gonna die on the island. Then when those missionaries blew up her house, I assumed that was her death there but then Sawyer found her with only a few scratches…it seemed amazing that she survived that to me. But perhaps she DID die and like Christian she was somehow “revived” by the island but is now a part of the island itself and will do its work by being part of that cabin.
Lastly, the “move the island” thing seems to make a bit of sense as it explained that polar bear with the Dharma logo they found in the desert. Perhaps the island moves location AND time. Or maybe the island itself doesn’t move but the essence that makes that island special is what moves. That would also explain the weird landmarks and the polar bear as those were things that the island “picked up” in the last few places it’s been. Also, perhaps it explains why Ben wakes up in Tunisia and doesn’t know what time it is…the island “moved” on him and somehow left him there…I dunno…just a theory.
Only two weeks left. A one-hour episode then a two-hour episode-of-chaos after that. It’s gonna be wild.
Stevo
I hereby recind the notion that Richard Alpert ages ‘normally’. Anyone here a notary?
Yeah, I think she’s dead too but I didn’t even think of the Niles angle. I thought he might just be trying to be friendly, but I didn’t realize that. Though, wouldn’t he know for sure that she was dead? I suppose he might know and hasn’t told anyone though…
By the way, when the helicopter pilot dropped that beacon thing to Jack and his crew, was he trying to lure them to the helicopter so he could get them off the island or was he trying to tell them to avoid the beacon because that’s where the soldiers are?
And I’ll bet that scene where they show them landing on the homeland is a flash forward again…they can’t be getting off that quickly. According to the episode guide, this is Part 1 of a three-part series so things will start heating up (though both part 2 and 3 are on next week as a two-hour special).
