Major League Baseball: 2007 Season

Everyone needs to grow up and get down from their high horse! You people act so schocked and disgusted to find these things out. Welcome to reality.

Damnit Hal Morris and Jack Armstrong!!! The Nasty Boys I figured were never clean, but effin’ A I am disappointed.

What high horse?
I ain’t doping up for anything.

Why can’t we be disgusted about paying 40 to 50 bucks to watch baseball, only to find out that these players are cheaters.

I’ve had 2 friends make it to the majors only to get tossed around and finally sent to minors.
These people cheated to stay there, when other players like my friends work their asses off only to be beat out by dopes.

Sorry B, but nothing pisses me off more then cheaters & lying.
And these people did both.
I’ll be disgusted all I want, thanks.

All I’m saying is the NFL had a semi-scandal with this in the 80’s and not much was made out of it. Fans were shelling out moolah to see them. Where was the senate investigation when that was going on?
Now with the knowledge of the prevalence of steroids that was going on in the NFL, baseball had every chance over that 20 year period to do something about it. all the while we were growing up watching these guys who had millions of dollars on the line in a game which was not testing them for something that could increase their wallets as well as their stats. 20 years between the NFL and MLB when it comes to steroids. I knew what i was watching all those years. i guess most of you did not!

how could you not know what was going down after looking at sammy and mcgwire jeezus they blew up like the good year blimps, hitting 600 ft homeruns, seriously

but they got the interest level in baseball back up after the lockout

so is the mlb to blame? they promoted this shit and they got it… so now they get the backlash

Just because we’re acting shocked and outraged doesn’t mean we were totally oblivious to what was going on.

We can still have the same reaction whether we knew everything or nothing.

Can you?

Well who can blame Eric Gagne and Julian Tavarez… but the big “C”! Nooooooooooo!!!

I don’t know how shocked I am… perhaps a bit disappointed to see certain names on the list. And not shocked as in the case of a one Johnny “frat boy” Damon. Go to the yankess you meeserable leetle swine!

In any case some stiffer punishment should be in order.

Good point and I see what you mean about the NFL.
They stopped that shit cold right away.

Look at the NFL and MLB right now in terms of money and popularity. The NFL is so much more popular and makes SO MUCH MORE money then the mlb. If fact if you put the revenue of the NFL against every other sport, including the Olympics, combined, the NFL still makes more.

The NFL will bust you for smoking pot for crying out loud, let alone steroids.

Bud Selig is the one who should be banned.
Him, all the owners, and the players union knew what was going on and did nothing, all to get more people and more money in the door.

They are the ones who should be fined & banned, but we all know that ain’t gonna happen.

I don’t really believe this.

You’re saying the NFL revenue is higher than the Olympics, MLB, NBA, NHL, and the PGA Tour combined?

I don’t see that.

^ That would have been your 12000th post. Glad you made it count Neil.

Maybe this is the kick in the ass that mlb needed to cut this crap out.

That is what Mike & Mike said on ESPN radio this morning.
Whether they mean TV revenue or total revenue I don’t know.

TV revenue easily.
They have a very lucrative deal.

edit: Look at this info

“Comparing the sizes of television contracts, the NFL is by far the largest (reportedly $2.2 billion US for the 2012 season), with the NBA and MLB second and third ($500 million and $479 million respectively). The NHL is in a distant fourth place ($120 million)”

The NFL makes more then the MLB, NBA, NHL combined according to that (espn). And golf makes crap compared to them so I bet you could throw them in and the NFL would still make more.

I figured you meant TV revenue…thanks for the clarification.

It makes sense.

I read in the paper yesterday that a few Senators announced legislation to limit access to HGH, steroids etc and stiffen criminal penalties for abuse and distribution. Penalty for possession could be as high as 3 years in prison and higher for manufacture and distribution.

What do you guys think? Maybe in the end this scandal and laws will prevent this sort of thing in the future except for the most desperate.

Curt Schilling also wrote on his web site that Clemens should hand over his 4 cy youngs since 97’ and people like Bonds should give up their records. I totally agree. If for no other reason than Schilling is teh man… He could strike out Chuck Norris.

I just saw where the guy who had the final-out ball from the WS had it chewed up by his dog.

WTF!?

If i only had 1/2 of what my dog has chewed up!
