^With one of those top hitters hurt…
The Yankees are back in the thick of it. Had to expect it, based on the talent in the clubhouse and the cream puff schedule between end of July/start of Aug. But hey, ya gotta beat the teams you’re supposed to, and a lot of teams have been guilty of not getting that done lately while the Bombers have. If this Joba Chamberlain kid is even close to what scouts think he is, it will help the middle relief immensely, which has been their major flaw.
BTW, anyone else notice that all of a sudden Jermaine Dye looks like Frank Thomas circa 1993. I’m sure a lot of GM’s are kicking themselves for not making a stronger play for him before the deadline. Now the White Sox have become a real thorn in the side of their AL Central Brethren lately.
But most importantly, The Braves come to Shea tonight for a big three game series with their new first baseman Mark Texiera ,having won 5 of 7. I’m nervous…real nervous. The Mets havent won one of their three series against Atl so far. We have to take 2 of 3, at the very least.
Lets Go Mets!
sorry for trying to make the best of it.
like you must be a very proud Indians fan. Its the 10th anniversary of when they made it to the World Series
and got beat by the Marlins!

lets go phils
^^ BURN…
I just saw it!

Damn west coast games! I fell asleep. And this is one sports record that I definitely wanted to see.
“This record is not tainted at all, period. Period.”
^Exact quote from BB at press conference.
::cough cough::
BULLSHIT!!
I watched it last night and didn’t even feel a tingle. What joke and what a scar to leave on America’s favorite pass time.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
go Tigers!!!
whether or not he used steroids, he has never failed a drug test given to him by the mlb or anyone else for that matter.
i stayed up last night to watch this game. it looked like a mad scramble for the ball. turns out the kid who caught it (mets fan from brooklyn) was on his was to australia and was in san fran for a 1 day layover. him and his friend purchased tickets to the game that day. quite a turn of events, good for him.
Well, this is all Baseballs fault. They reaped the benifits of this after the 94 strike, when the entire country became disenchanted with the game. The longball brought back the crowds, and MLB didnt care how players were getting it done. As a matter of fact, they probably still wouldnt care if players were shooting up, if it were not for a couple of books being written by Canseco, and the two reporters from San Fran.
As for Bonds, his legacy will be tainted. Its a shame too, 'cos its pretty near indisputable that he’s one of the all time greats, and if he were still playing steroid free, he’d probably be looming right around 700 anyway.
Scar? I don’t think so. Light bruise maybe! The 1919 white sox scandal, now that is a scar and yes Baseball got through that! baseball has not been affected one bit by this. Attendance is still in record numbers. merchandising is through the roof. The only people scarred by this are those who choose to keep the wound open! Sure Barry probably juiced but it has no affect on my view of the sport or the man. There are countless other names on the same list as Barry’s when it comes to alligations of steroid use. We could nit pick for years about what stats are tainted. It’s too easy for the average joe to be swept up in all this hype because it’s all the media wants you to hear!
ummmmmm, Go Tigers?
Indeed!

^GREAT, just GREAT… I love it!!!
Curtis Granderson, [color=orange]Detroit Tigers: “2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted”, Tupac ft. Snoop Dogg, “Nuttin but a G thang” Dr. Dre, “Gin And Juice”, Snoop Dogg [color=red]PHISH
Joel Zumaya, Detroit Tigers: “Voodoo Child (Slight Return)”, Jimi Hendrix[138]
dope.
Damn, Bonds hit another one last night.
He may finish this season with about 770-775…and if he plays 1 more season next year it might be with an AL team so that he can DH…800 is looking realistic.
Gawd.
Don’t worry. Barring injury, A-Rod will make all of this a moot point in a few years anyways.
By favorite Tigers music is actually Pudge Rodriguez who uses “Latino Heat” which was Eddie Guerrero’s cheesy entrance theme in the WWF. I crack up every time I hear it.
And yeah, I was lucky to see Bond’s homerun (around 11:45 on the East Coast). I actually put a limit where I would only watch three Bonds at-bats and then go to bed since I had to get up at 6:30 that morning and he hit it on his third at-bat.
I still think his numbers should be stricken from the record but it was cool just to see a record like that be broken even if it was from a cheater. And I’m glad Selig wasn’t there…I could have done without seeing that weasel looking uncomfortable in his suite.
And yeah…Tigers. Ug. They’re getting healthier but the same bullpen issues keep showing up plus the hitting is getting a little worse. At least they’re getting wins cuz they’re playing Tampa. Tampa Bay…the cure for any losing streak. It’s gonna be a VERY close race down the stretch.
