Major League Baseball: 2007 Season

yeah they didn’t help us out at all, now i just hope that ur boys take over the d backs and the d backs go on the skid, or that we just take the division from the mets, that would be the best case scenario, i’d love that so much more then the WC, but shit, when you haven’t been in the postseason in 14 years, who cares how you do it, just do it

they seem to have some fire right now, keep it up fightins

damn padres lost 3 in a row to the rockies over the weekend. their lead in the wild card is only 0.5 over phillies and 1.5 over rockies. yikes!

padres @ giants (3) @ brewers (4)
phillies atlants (3) nationals (3)
rockies @ dodgers (3) diamondbacks (3)

phillies def have an advantage with their remaining games but we shall see.

go padres!

go phils, no playoff’s in 14 or 15 seasons, were due, so very due

Yeah, with the Tigers basically out of it, I don’t know who I should cheer for in the playoffs. I definitely agree that the Phillies are due…they’ve been so brutal for so long, they deserve it.

great read, this put a big smile on my face

Good job Blue Jays, I knew that you didn’t really hate me and would come through in the end.

Ricky Henderson is a national treasure. He really is…HE should be president…he doesn’t make any less sense than our current one and would be far more entertaining.

And all we need is for the Tigers to win their next four games and the Yankees to lose their next four games and the Tigers are IN!! Playoffs, here we come!!

oh how fucking sweet it is

NL east Champs baby, 14 years, best sunday ever, fall baseball is back in Philly, so so pumped, thank you mets, thank you florida

^I second that. GO PHILS!

yes sir, still on cloud 9

can’t wait till Wednesday when i will be at a phillies playoff game, best ticket to anything I have ever bought, so so excited, 14 years in the making, the only thing that could be better would be the return of Phish

Yikes.

Nice job, Mets.

I would have definitely rooted for the Mets as opposed to the Phillies. Fuck the Phillies.

If they win the World Series I’ll castrate myself with a spork.

^hear, hear to your castration my friend.

The last time I saw live baseball it was the Phillies in the World Series in 93’… a year before I moved to NH for good. The phish was playin, the dead was playin and the Phils got crushed by Toronto that year. But it was wicked fun, Veterans stadium was decked out… now it doesn’t even exist. I’m excited for the phils and all my philthy brethren.

GO SOX!~

fuck whatever baseball team plays near west lafayette, IN

if the phillies win, i will castrate you with a spoon just for good measure

goldphish knows whats up, go phils

I’m sorry to see the Mets lose in such self-promoted disgrace, but they wouldn’t have lost unless the Phillies played so well, and that’s where the congratulations belongs. I’d love to see the Phils go all the way and eventually beat the Sox (notice how little faith I have in the Yanks getting beyong the first round). (sorry jeff)

^darn tootin’ Bill… the Phillies won 14 out of their last 17 to win that division… thats one helluva streak. To be honest, if it came down to a Sox v phils world series… well I’m interested in watching the Sox b/c I know the team but I couldn’t not root for the Phils… even if I had to do it secretly

Six games attended, approximately 120 games watched, and almost all 162 games with a watchful eye on and this is how it ends. The baseball season is so long, that when your team ends its season like this it feels like someone just kicked you in the gut.

Congratulations to the Phillies and their fans. I take nothing away from what they accomplished. After all they owned us head to head. They completely deserve it. I think they are the best team in the NL and should go to the WS.

Just a couple of closing thoughts

1- Anyone who thinks Jose Reyes should be traded is out of their mind.

2- I didnt love a lot of the in game moves Willie Randolph made, but this is on the players. They lost this lead and played lousy baseball the last month of the season.

3-Omar Mianaya is more to blame. He downplayed the importance of his bullpen in the offseason and let key relievers like Chad Bradford and Darren Oliver go, while giving Guillermo Mota a 2 year extension after he tested positive for steroids. And they should have moved Aaron Heilman two years ago , when it was clear he wasnt going to be happy not being a starter.

Ah well, I wish I could say wait till next year, but alot of our key players are getting old quick and the Phillies lineup is pretty young and not going anywhere.

I still can’t believe the Mets finished their season with a 1-6 homestand.

I’ve kept a excel log to track all the Padres games I’ve watched this year, to make sure getting the MLB ticket was worth it. Tonight will make it 120. Not too bad considering that’s just about 75% of their games. The games I missed were due to traveling and concerts, but I kept a watchful eye when I was able to.

It all comes down to Peavy to prove how good of a pitcher he is. If he gets the win (currently 19) and 5 more strike outs (currently 234) while maintaining an era below 3.00 (currently 2.36) he will lead the entire majors in the pitching triple crown categories. But honestly none of that will matter if they don’t win tonight. There isn’t another pitcher I would rather see on the mound tonight than Peavy. He has a 1.29 era against the Rockies this year (0-0) in two games, both pitched at Petco. Padres won 2-1 and lost 1-2.

What a great way to kick off what looks to be a fantastic postseason.

GO PADRES!

Yeah, my Tigers are out but it’s pretty cool to see a long downtrodden franchise like the Phillies finally make it in. That was sweet. Even sweeter would be seeing another downtrodden franchise like the Rockies win it tonight. This would also stretch the number of times I’ve been able to see the Rockies on the East Coast to ONE time. Nice work, MLB. Go Rockies. Let the downtrodden rise up!!!
